My friend feels you guys pain. I have a silver car and its actually not as bad as a black car but it gets dusty pretty quick too.

This is my last black car, especially last black Nissan. The problem with black is that it's one of the few colors that acts like a mirror (ie reflection). Every imperfection is magnified. Body work and repainting can be a bitch. Chips are magnified. In many lights (sun low on the horizon), black looks like crap. Black is extremely hard to photograph because of how reflective it is. I have two kids now and simply don't have the time to babysit the finish on my black G anymore. It use to really bother me when the car got dirty. Now I just deal with it and wash it every week or so. I don't bother dusting it anymore either. This weekend I clay bared, cleaned the paint, polished, and waxed the car. It looks great, especially for being 7 years old.

My next car will be white for sure.

Maybe gems like these? Have to question if he ever had a G...went from "considering" to "bought it" to "hate it" all in 16 days.

Best investment I've made: Take it to a professional, drop some cash to have the imperfections taken care of, and learn the proper washing techniques.
Only time I use a cover is a) I bought it new, and it's a top quality cover, and b) the alternative is worse, like kids walking through the garage scratch the car while it sat in the Winter with their backpacks, etc. If you use one regularly and pull it on and off all the time, it is very difficult not to scratch the hell out of the car. Using one outdoors where sand and dust land on the car, gets embedded into the cover, does far more harm than good.

But, +1^, unless you have damage like deep scratches, anyone with a little hard work should be able to maintain their finish on their own, including learning how to wash their car. Go back and look at my SE-R posted pic, that's 1991 car that spends at least 6 months a year outside of the garage, and for 10 years was almost never garaged. Not perfect but for its age, very, very good.

I got my g in Feb. and I live in SC so come March I found out what pollen on a clean car is like. My black G looked like it had gold inlay every morning, it was driving my crazy. Unitl i found out the Zaino quick detailer has aint-static properties in that cuts static by like 80%. Now after using the complete Zaino kit and the QD pollen no longer sticks to my car. So my .02 is try Zaino it is the best car cleaning products I've found. Period.
