Honest opinions on Genesis>G35

Hey guys,

Courtesy of officerdbag and myself I'm looking for opinions on whether you think the Genesis is a better car than the G35, but more importantly why you think so.

Let the analysis begin.

In my fair honest opinion.. Geneis>G35 by a long shot.. I'm talking about G1 G35's.. the 07-08 G35's compare way better but I still think the Geneis is the better car.

Plus, what kind of "analysis" are you trying to get by posting this poll on a G35 bias website?

Go post this exact same thread in a Hyundai board and see what they say..

The Genesis is just so dam nice and clean in person.. Especially when modded and you throw a nice set of wheels on that car.

Without having driven the Genisis, all i has heard is that it has great performance, but the finish is not to the standard of the G.
That being said the Price of the Genisis is its winning feature....definately great bang for your buck.

IMO the genesis is ugly as *** in person. seen a few modded ones and they still dont look right. the side profile of the car is the only angle it looks good.
G35 coupe will be a classic...
Genisis will be forgotten in a few years...

To repeat my post from the other thread:

"I have driven one and while I'll agree with you it's nice, IMHO it isn't as nice as a G35. I'm just not convinced that it will withstand the test of time, and remember, beauty is more than skin deep. I would be way more comfortable with my G on a track, road course, or a twisty winding road pushing her hard.

Of course this is all subjective to the individual poster's opinion, so I'm definitely not trying to start an argument. Just expressing my opinion. That's why I started another thread to hear other opinions. I realize this is a G forum, so opinions will be biased, but there are many rational people on here that actually evaluate a topic before they just spew BS to be heard."

+1 I went to the dealer to check them out. From the side they look ok but head on no way. I smiled when I went and got back into the G.

G for sure, I've seen several Genesiseseses around and they are just not as attractive. I'd venture to say they are not as well-made nor as mod-able. JMO, I have no facts to back that up, only reputation. And you really should compare 09 or '10 models -- apples to apples the G37 trounces the Hyundai. And 'for the price' shouldn't come into it, the question is 'which is the better car'.

You didn't state whether it's the coupe or sedan you're talking about. If it's the sedan the Genesis wins hands down. I never liked teh G sedan, but the Genesis sedan is a great car all around.

The Genesis coupe is a great car as well. Maybe not quite the nice styling of the G35, but then I can say that about the G37 as well. As far as the quality of the car only time will tell, but having owned a Hyundai myself I can say they have come a long way from what they were. They still have a ways to go, but give them a few years and they'll be every bit as good as Nissan is now.

I've driven both the G35/37 and a Genesis (Sedan), and I don't think it's even close, the G35/37 wins easily. The Genesis has a very nice interior, and it looks good from the outside too, but the G35/37 have better engines and a far better suspension.

The Hyundai 3.8L isn't as nice as the VQ35, and despite having comparable HP/TQ numbers and being larger, it's not as quick as the VQ. Even the 4.6L with it's 375HP and 333TQ is barely faster than a VQ35, due in some part to the fact that the Genesis is 300 pounds heavier (Gen 1). The G37 absolutely blows away the 4.6L. Hyundai makes a nice engine, but they've got a long way to go to match the VQ series.

And while the ride was nice and comfortable, I was reminded more of a Camry or Avalon than a BMW when driving the Genesis. Nice for city driving, maybe a little nicer than a G35/37, but it gets killed on the twisties. Soft with too much body roll, and the steering was nice, but numb, and reminded me again of a Camry or Avalon. The G35/37 is crisper and much more fun. It's really not close.

Performance: G37 >> G35 = Genesis 4.6L >> Genesis 3.8L
Handling: G37 > G35 >> Genesis

G35, hands down.

I think, and hope the Genesis does really well. But it's no Infiniti.
