I have been down the mod road on other vehicles. It is so easy to get sucked in. And it can be lots of fun. But even when you see actual dyno results, what do they do for you in a practical sense? What are you going to do with the car that 10 additional rwhp will make a difference in? Most of us wouldn't notice the difference and even if we did it wouldn't mean anything in terms of what we could do with the car. And I don't trust that subjective 'feel' thing. If its 'subtle' it probably isn't there at all. Remember how a good wash and wax seems to make the car ride better? Remember how a new pair of sneakers made you fell like you could jump higher? I think a lot of bolt ons are the same.

Having said that, if you like the way the mods look and sound, or if they make you feel bigger, better, faster ,more....then go for it. Nothing wrong with bolting on every thing you can afford. And a lot of the stuff really does look great.

This time I'm taking a different route and thinking about what I could do with the money I'd spend on mods. (And remember, mods usually decrease the resale value of your car.) So rather than spending a ton of money for a few imperceptible HP gains, or mechanical bling (or a dyno print out from the same guy who did the tune ) I'm going to upgrade my brake pads and fluid and start going to HPDE events where I can learn how to really drive this thing and drive it in a way that would be illegal and dangerous on the streets.

^^^ you can say that literally about anything in life... do you really need that big screen TV? I mean really, why not something smaller and more economical - do you really need to eat steak? you can survive on peanut butter and some fruits & vegis... the list goes on and on about how people do things they really dont need to - who cares.

I've spent several thousand on guns & tattoos... it's something I like just like modding my car. Does it do anything practical for me? Well, happiness and satisfaction is about as practical as it gets

Dude all these numbers are just going to confuse you, and they dont mean **** in the real world. The only number that matters is how much you can spend. If you can spend a lot, and I mean a lottttt, go twin turbo. Lemme tell you cars that come from that factory NA are reallyyyyyy hard to make twin turbo. theres a lot of stuff you have to do to it and theres a lot of things that can go wrong easilyy.
Leaving you car NA and getting a nice exhaust, intakes and spacers, jwt clutch and flywheel set up and maybe a pulley set if you want, will ensure stability, itll drive amazing, give you more than enough power than youll need driviing on the street, and wont give you headaches. Get yourself some lightweight wheels and do some cosmetic work and your gooood.
I plan to go FI with a vortech (cause its reliable), and so far i have about every bolt on including headers cats exhaust spacer pulley and jwt flywheel. These mods will help with my vortech later on down the line. im probably not going vortech tell year after next, cause i aint that rich.
Plus theres other things you need to look at, like suspension and brakes.

I'd skimp on the tats and mods, but that's just me.

I think you missed the point of his post... read the post he replied to initially, then you'll understand what he meant...

He means = no tats, no mods, just guns...

Anyway - it just seemed odd 7 months later...

And although I like guns and don't have any tattoos or significant mods (replacement undershroud when it gets here with right bolt holes), it was really just a joke. Sorry if I woke anyone up.

you really shouldnt be on the computer... you need to go to the closest (or best nearby) tattoo shop... think about it - would you ever be able to do that if the wife was home?... and if she freaks out, tell her the alternative was getting a piece of @ss

Great scheme. If I were a younger man....

So I got some of the guns out. Anybody know what a 686+ is? Don't ever count the shots from somebody with a revolver and stick your head out after 6....

^^^ somehow I suspect you're not much (if any) older than me...

Doesnt take a "young man" to get tats

On the other hand - tats are like car mods & guns = as addicting as drugs... if you ever decide to get a tat, I guarantee it wont end at one (no matter how old you are)... but what the hell, DO IT

As for 686+, nope I'm not familiar... I'm in commifornia so the counting shots and sticking head out isnt gonna happen (there will always be more coming)... but thankfully I have enough SHTF tools that I'm not too concerned

Funny about guns... I got one of my "Go to" out earlier just to practice draw... and felt compelled to get the shotty out and cycle some dummy rounds through... it's kinda like getting the urge to play guitar every now & then, not sure what causes it or why - but when the urge strikes you just gotta do it or you go crazy...
