I'm a new owner too- 06 Coupe- in Alberta and I went through this same deliberation. My "beater" is actually a truck (go figure)- and guzzles WAY more gas than the G. I got winter treads "just in case" for the G but regardless... our vehicles take such a beating what with the road salt and sand. Arrrgh. Must be nice to live in a climate where the only white powder you see out on the road is a result of a drug busy instead of sub zero.

One things for certain- if the G is going out to play in the snow, an exterior detail package will soon follow!

you live your life once. Drive the G and be happy. Get rid of that beater and mod your G. LOL J/K.

But I would just drive the G. I probably couldn't resist.

Save the G, drive the beater!

Since you live in the "Frozen North" I'd drive the beater and keep your G high and dry in a garage where you can polish and clean it until the next thaw. Now would be a great time to add a few mods you've been considering....

another aspect to consider, you can be the best driver in the world but that won't keep you from getting hit by some dumb@ss that can't drive in the snow.

drive the beater, bring the G out when it's nice

Its an 03.... unless it is highly modified I don't see why you can't drive the G it isn't like its an exotic or anything.

I can't think of driving an old honda or something like that for 4-5 months while G is sitting in the Garage for entire winter.
if you have a nice SUV or a truck i would understand that but i wouldn't like to drive a crappy car for half of the year. (IMO)
like someone else said its not like we have an exotic car (very expensive), and we come to world one time and i think we should enjoy it
just me idea, i respect all other opinions though..

P.S: i live in Ottawa,Canada and we have heavy winter here, i switched my rims to 17 and used blizzaks for the winter, it wasn't a big deal even in snow storms.

you never drive a car you care about keeping where they salt the roads. Salt is death to metal.

I wasn't talking about body rust at all. I have had cars that were from areas where they salt. suspension bolts that need to be cut off because the nuts weld themselves with rust to the bolts. any pivoting parts seizing at the pivot points.

Never again will i buy or drive a car exposed to salted roads
