Another nanny in the car

I don't know about this one. What do you all think of a pedal that tells you to slow down?

If it helps avoid rear end collisions, fine. But if it is another stupid way to turn on my MIL and force an expensive (emissions related) repair before vehicle inspection, then nope. At least they have the option to turn it on or off.

you know what I do love?

I'm currently renting a Merc E300 since my car is getting repaired and the safety features it has are amazing, it took a little getting used to but what is:

Blind spot indicator
Lane assist indicator
and some other stuff

But the Blind spot indicator is sooo cool it's unbelievable. Basically you no longer have to look at your blind spot when changing lanes anymore, you simply look in your side mirror and there's a small pyramid, it stays red if there's a car in your blind spot, once you've passed it it turns off which means no cars are on the side and you can change lanes. If for some reason you missed to look at the pyramid and started changing lanes it'll give you an audio indicator (nothing annoying) so you know there's a car next to you. I love it it's made driving here soo much more enjoyable.

The lane assist basically if you start changing lanes without signaling the steering wheel will vibrate as you cross the lines because it thinks you've slept.

Now those are useful safety features

Honestly, I wouldn't want it! The idea just sounds absurd. And I've never had an issue with checking blind spots, if it's an issue for anyone, they shouldn't be driving. The idea that you can now change lanes without looking over your shoulder is just wrong; and if they are doing that, they also shouldn't be driving. Lol, sorry, have strong feelings about this!

The only "safety" feature I would actully want is the proximity sensors on the rear bumpers that warn you if you get to close to something. I'm ok without them, never had any "incident" where I bumped something, but there have been situations where I'd find them useful.
