3 years in japan

what's up guys i got a problem. i will be transfering to japan for 3 years but don't know what to do with the car, by the time i get back it'll be eight years old i was think of either bring it with me, or preparing it to be a track car in the future, or selling it.

Will you get a work car over there?

Without knowing full details, I say sell it. Lease one over there then buy a G37 when you come back.

probably can work on it, if i sell it it'll be hard for me to sell my aftermarket parts in time i leave march they didn't give me much of a heads up.

Get sellin! worst case, put the car back to stock and store the parts. I'm sure you can throw them in a buddies garage or something.

parts sell pretty fast around here if reasonably priced. Don't think you'll have trouble getting rid of them by March.

Are you in the US Military? Keep in mind, it can be done, but is pretty expensive to do. If you're in the Military, you won't be allowed to do it unless you're in Mainland Japan...and it will still run you over $5K to get it legalized. I was stationed in Okinawa from 2000-2006, and one of my biggest regrets was not selling my USDM (Fox Mustang GT) car before I left. I wound up sinking another $11K into it after returning to the States...and it sits at my work parking lot while I drive my G35 coupe everyday...BTW, you WON'T be allowed to sell it in Japan if you bring it with you for 3 years, due to the restrictions on imported vehicles...and the old "you can get more money for it because it's LHD" addage went out in th early 80's...I found some NICE LHD vehicles that would not sell for even cheap prices, because of being hard to get parts for, old & LHD...(i.e. '68 Camaro in restored condition for $8K...didn't sell in the last 2 years I was stationed in Okinawa at a local lot...).

Sell your G, buy something cool when you get to Japan, save your COLA (if you're Military) in a mutual fund or something & pay cash for a nicer car when you return to the US. You can get some faster, more unique vehicles in Japan than are available in the US (Chaser, S15, GT-R). If you buy a first-gen GT-R (manufactured in '89) build it up, and extend a year to 2014, it will be old enough (25 years) to bring back on the Govt's dime with no restrictions...

Japan for three years, what a great opportunity. Learn all you can, hang out at some of their tuner shops if they'll let you. Time to check out some real JDM parts. Sell your G as is, if modified correctly should sell quickly. Good Luck!
