check engine light on

check engine light on

check engine light came on.. within last month i have put intake , spacer, 3inch cat back. the navi says gas cap..i check its fine.. itn says if the lights blinking possible ignition problems which i dont think the case is because its not blinking.. any word?

well if its just the gas cap, that will throw a evap code, but should go away after driving it a few times.

i pulled the code P0171 ..1.low fuel pressure or restricted flow 2.ignition system fault 3.large vacuum leak 4. faulty MAF sensor...

my bad i should have been more specific with the first post

P0171 is system too lean bank one. I know it well.

Dirty MAF sensor or vacuum leak are the 2 primary causes.

For me it was a leaky plenum gasket. Bought a used kinetix ssv and reused the cork gasket it came with. No Bueno.

Replaced the gasket, no more code.

I'd start with cleaning the MAF. They sell spray MAF cleaner in any autoparts store.

Edit I re-read your original post. Spacer install in last month I'd be looking hard at a vacuum leak

sounds good going to grab the spray today. should i reset the battery after cleaning MAF? or drive around and should the light turn off? since car is running lean is a basic tune a good idea?
