Aftermarket (Non-Factory Backed) Warranty

With '06's running out of factory warranties, I'm wondering if anyone has an aftermarket warranty for their G? If so, please detail which company you chose, your coverage, and if you have ever successfully made a claim.

Thanks!

Get one of Infiniti's Elite Plans. You can get up to 4 years, 48K miles. And shop around for it. Any Infiniti dealer can sell it to you.

I'd never get an aftermarket warranty, especially after what my coworker went through with his. The small print will kill you. He had to have his transmission rebuilt, and while they covered the big stuff, he was charged for anything that was absolutely, positively not related to the transmission, but had to be removed/replaced in order to actually replace the transmission. The ultimate nickel and dime job. Ended up costing him about $500 out of pocket.

Any 3rd party warranty advertised is pretty much a scam company that changes its name and "owner" whenever lawsuits start piling up.

Do it with Infiniti or nothing.

when i bought my car thru the dealership it was at....i went with the fidelity extended warranty. it's about the best you can do other than the infiniti extended warranty. banks offer warranties too.....or atleast when you take a loan or refinance a car through them.

I've heard horrible things about many 3rd party warranty programs. However others seem to get rave reviews.

Anyone have any luck with EasyCare? Some guys on the BMW boards recommended them.

Aftermarket Warranty...."Don't do et!"

If you intend to buy a warranty only buy a Nissan extended warranty! I have a friend that purchased a aftermarket warranty for his Ford truck, in typical fashion the engine blew and the warranty company denied payment because he had larger tires than the truck came with. See they'll use any excuse not to pay for your repairs....one size larger tires has nothing to do with Fords crappy motors!

Required reading before doing any third-party warranty.

Did you purchase one of these? If so, what's a good price one should expect?

I have an extended warranty through my insurance. (Geico) I found out about this when I bought my Cougar in 2000, It's only possible if the car is bought new or under 15 months old. It works the same as insurance as there is a $500 deductible, but it covers everything. I had a problem with the clutch and it was only going to cost me the deductible to fix it. It ended up being an adjustment and I didn't need the insurance after all though.

What happens is if there is a problem you call and get a claim number, then the dealer (of whoever repairs it) can get paid directly from Geico or from me and I'll get reimbursed. Works the same as if it were a regular insurance claim. It covers up to 100,000 miles and I think 7 years (I'd have to check on that). I have it on the G and I think it cost 168. every 6 months, or 28 every month. It was too good a deal to pass up. I have 2 motorcycles and 3 cars on the policy, so I don't know if that effects the cost.

Hopefully I won't need it, but since my car is a MT, I'm sure someday it will come in handy, even if only for that.
Lisa

Found some info on it:

^ Is that $168 every 6 months for as long as you own the car/have insurance with them?

I believe so, my husband pays the insurance bill so I would have to look to be sure. I might be wrong on the amount now that I think about it because I thought it was 28 each month but it might be less. If I remember I'll check this evening. I might be thinking of the amount for the Cougar. It might depend on the car and the policy too.

Not much help am I? Haha.

My car is a CPO with the optional Elite Plan. Basically, I get another year (up to 7) and everything is covered, including the Bose. I get roadside assistance and a few other perks. I forget what I paid for mine ($500 or $600). It retails for around $1350. But the plans I was talking about are for non-CPO cars. You can get as little as 12 months/12K miles up to 48/48K. I don't know the pricing, but any Infiniti dealer can sell it, so shop around.

I just looked at my Geico statement and I pay 27.10 every 6 months and the deductible for the Mechanical breakdown is 250.00. It's a much better deal than I thought.

It looks like I have roadside assistance for 5.20 every 6 months also. So between the factory warranty, Infiniti roadside, Geico mechanical and roadside I'm pretty much covered for anything! Just hope I didn't jinx it. Haha.
