G35 Coupe Trade In Value - Lowballed by Dealership?
I just recently traded in my old car for my 03' coupe. I could have easily gotten a couple grand more selling it privately, but it's such a hassle.
My old car was a car that would probably interest teenage drivers... hell if I want to take a dozen "street racer" kids for a test drive in my car (provided they can drive a stick).
Secondly. Even if you sell "as is", they can still attempt to whine, bitch, and complain about anything they notice after the sale( or anything that goes wrong with the car).
Also, from a local car forum I hang out on; Some one was selling his used RSX-S privately.. took someone out for a test drive in it.. and the person stabbed him in the throat and stole the car. Yeah.. No thank-you.
Sometimes I just hate dealing with people. Not worth the time.. lol

Thanks for all the input thus far - I'm not in a hurry to sell the car, so I think I'll try to go the route of private sell, even if it is more of a hassle. Hell, I may just keep it because it's soo much fun to drive in the spring/summer/fall!!
I'm pretty sure I just wasn't firm enough at the dealership during the whole process, probably because I knew that I wasn't going to be buying the g37 that day. Maybe if my mind changes in the next few weeks and I'm ready to buy that day, I'll push harder...

just realize dealers have to make a profit, they have to pay those kids to wash the cars, they have to advertise, lot fees, inspections etc etc etc. i trade all my cars in at the dealership because frankly dealing with people sucks for the exact reasons tabris stated. yes dealerships are going to try and make money off you, no theyre not evil demons sent from hell and no matter what car you ever try to sell youll get more privately unless you took advantage of cash for clunkers. but thats done with thankfully.
