Angry a Loaner G37 accident

Hello everyone,

I dropped my car off at the dealer last Friday and took a G37 as a loaner. As I was driving it in the rain, the car slipped, hit a curve and then went downhill where it hit a fence and got stuck in there. I called a towing company and had it towed to the dealership.

They just called me this morning saying the damage on the car is estimated to be around $7k and my insurance has to pay for it. If it doesn't cover it, then I'll just have to pay it myself

They also admit that the car has a full-coverage insurance through the dealer but they are not willing to use their insurance in this case.

So what do you guys think? Has this ever happened to anyone before?

Thanks in advance ..

Well, you did crash the car, so obviously your insurance should be covering the repairs, that or you should yourself.

Normally when you drive another car, and something happens to it while you are driving YOUR insurance should be the one to cover the damages. In this case your insurance should pay for the damage.

So if I only have a liability insurance, then I'll just have to pay it myself ??!!

Why don't they just use their insurance?

you only have liability? this'll make you wish you had full coverage... but yes, if you have liability, then they'll pay for whatever you damage, not what damages your car (or loaner)

Not sure if it differs state to state but I know in GA insurance follows the car, not the driver. Say if I drive a friends car and have get into an accident the friends insurance would be liable.

I learned all the insurance lessons in my early driving years, mom was/has been in insurance for 30ish years now. She says the dealership is usually primary when it comes to accidents in a loaner.

Because if they use their insurance, their rates go up. And they weren't the ones that crashed the car. Sorry man, sounds like you are going out of pocket for this one if you only have liability. Hope everything works out.

I'm sure you ins company will cover the damages.

You damaged their car, not yours. So liability will cover it.

+1 On This. I'm not sure if it'll apply here but most of the time if you have full coverage insurance that coverage extends to if you have a rental.
