HELP: Valve springs, retainers, cams ?'s

Are valve springs, retainers, and cams needed for a 500 wrhp build? I don't want to spend unnecessary money on parts that i know can handle good under load,... as long as i don't take it pass 7k rpm. will longevity be an issue w/ stock valve springs/ retainers in the long run?

I know our rods are the weakest link, but what else is mandatory (engine wise) to replace in order to reach a 500 wrhp goal?

currently have JWT clutch/ flywheel combo n aps 2.5 exhaust ready to install.

600cc are included w/ Single turbo kit. SFR ST is what i plan on getting.

I don't know about the valve springs but I do suggest the cams. On most other builds its rare you don't see cams on the mod list.

reason why i ask because, if i was interested in raising the rev limiter then i thought the valve springs/ retainers would be a good idea. how ever if i wanted to save some $$ i don't have to go that route.

Rods, Pistons, studs, etc... it is.

a friend of mine has got an S2K w/ a GT35r single turbo and all the engine work he did was the valve springs/ retainers and 1000c injectors and raise his rev limiter to 10k rpm. he redlines quick in every gear and the sound of the engine at 8-9k rpm is the S2k on steriods. everything else is pretty much stock except for stage 4 clutch w/ STOCK flywheel and invidia exhaust dynoed in at 487rwhp @ 22lbs.

our cars is so much MORE expensive to mod it's sickening!!!

Even if i was pushing 487 rwhp i would still get my *** kicked all day due to pwr to weight ratio.

Guess i'll just change out the rods, pistons and slap on an SFR single turbo and see what this machine can dyno in

I think I am in the same boat as you are now. I have @ home ARP L19 studs and HR gaskets an was deciding wether or not supercharge or Twin turbo my car. I guess I will need pistons and rods and probably cams with valvetrain. I am inclining more for a vortech setup just because temp's here in Puerto Rico are Sick, my car will not survive 95+F being FI with twins.

why twins? why not do single w/ heat wraps/shield and intercooler sprays to help w/ temps. or you can get a rear mounted turbo to help w/ heat but w/ those u won't produce as much hp/tq as w/ the regular setup. there are a few members on here w/ rear mounted turbos or u can check youtube for vids.
