Advice needed

I am looking to buy a 2003 to 2006 g35 coupe and had some questions about the car. First I live in a city which gets a fair amount of snow in the winter and was wondering how the rear wheel drive holds up in the snow with the proper winter tires and rims. I have heard rumours about the reliability of the standard tranny and it having problems..I only want this car if its standard...should I be wary of this...and finally are there any significant upgrades within this range which would make one year much better than another...thanks in advance for your input...villain

Well the newer you go the more you're going to get out of it, however the 04' was the last year they came standard with the brembo brakes.

With real snow tires on, the car works fine in the winter.

You guys are both kind of right.

The 03-04 6MT (known as a "Standard" tranny in the auto world) all came with brembos.

Oil consumption has been an issue the 6mt rev ups(05+) are dealing with. Its not alot of them but i certainly would not call it an uncommon problem.

Dont worry about the HP differences from 03-04 to 05+. Stock... we run the same numbers.

The stock Navi isnt very user friendly so i could care less if i got one w/ or w/o it.

Dedicated snow tires and experience in snow driving means you will be fine.

standard tranny

Ok guys thanks for the snow advise...just as I figured I grew up driving big pontiacs and chevys in the snow...I know how to handle rear wheel in the snow and actually my daily driver is a toyota 4 runner and I often leave it in rear for the dooonnnys...anyway is it taboo to talk about the standard trannys cause not one person has given any input...villain
