Help with radio please
Help with radio please
Hello there,
I have an issue with my radio in my 04 G35x. Smoke was pouring out of the tape deck over the weekend. When I looked in there I saw 5 pennies and a nickel in there. (The work of my 3 year old)
Well there is no sound from the system now.. It still turns on and the functions work except there is no sound at ALL.
Anyone knows how to fix this. Weather there is a circuit board that controls the sound or one whole system.. Where can I get parts and so on.
I’m in NYC
Thanks in advance

Your best bet is to do a double-din conversion and install an aftermarket head unit. Lots of us have had the stock system break. The only place to buy one is the Infiniti dealer and it costs thousands of dollars. Maybe you can send it out to be fixed, for instance, here's a shop that deals with Clarion (they make our head unit): Short Circuit Repair

As far as good ones?
What's important to you? iPod/iPhone? Bluetooth? DVD? Nav? Voice control?
With kids around, I'd probably go with one that doesn't have a moving face... or maybe do go with a moving face and use a lock code on it, so they'll cover up any slots.
Pioneer's 4200 is a great choice if you're not interested in nav or voice control, even the 3200 is quite good.

I'd also recommend one of the Kenwood double-din units. I've got one that's a couple of generations old now, but their GPS is built by Garmin and is a million times better than the GPSes in competitor's units, but their audio user interface is less polished.
