No More VQ Engine?

Has anyone else heard this yet?

Since Renault owns Nissan - they're planning on using a Daimler engines now. Possibly in the next Z! Say it aint so. Could this be the end of the VQ or just car mag speculation?

I read this information over a year ago in AutoWeekly, it was my understanding they were in a partnership which is different than being owned by Renault. Let's face it our VQ engines could use some refinement as in way better piston rings....right REVUP engine owners?

this is the same as when Chevy stopped making the 350 motor

everyone cried and sobbed and then bought a 5.3 (326cu in) and loved it

It's about time they dropped it. This isn't the most efficient motor and the maintenance to keep is running is insane. $400 just to replace the spark plug gasket? You kidding me?

And the fact that several owners needed new motor because of oil consumption. Even an auto owner needed a new motor because the engine went shlt on him.

It's time to move on.

i dunno, Im kind of sad to see the VQ go, i at least think a direct injected version should be brought to market before giving it the ol'heeve-ho. The new Merc engines are pretty nice tho.

The spark plug gasket issues usually doesn't happen till 50k+ majority of the times. Other then that and the rev up issues this motor is really cheap to run you must be stupid to think 400 bucks is "insane". And they were not built to be efficient, if you wanted efficient you should of bought a 4 banger with 120hp

Yes, $400 is insane. When they could have created a valve cover with removable o-rings. You know, like almost every other damn cars out there. lol

Heck the old SR20DET motors had removable orings. The valve cover with built in Orings we see in the G35 was obviously to cut cost in manufacturing and to rape us @ $200 when they need replacing. Plastic pos valve covers? Even the Honda valve covers are made of metal.

You have to remember that you all do own Infiniti's. Things break and it can be expensive to fix.
You could have bought a Lexus and when the starter goes out, plan on spending upwards of $1500. Maybe an Acura, no wait, they don't make a rear wheel drive platform and parts are expensive. BMW? Don't get me started.
These are very nice cars for the money but if you're not happy with them, I hear Kia's having a sale, and you get a hundred thousand mile warranty!

Just my .02

From everything i have read the new motors should be very cool and make a lot of people happy. Sounds like they are trying to fill a lot of holes in the lineup of performance price etc as well.

jibberjabbers, stop randomly Infiniti bashing, it's gets tiresome to read.
Are you going to whine more or less when they start building Infinitis with stupid German engines that cost twice as much to maintain?

How do you know they will cost twice as much to maintain?

The Chrysler/Mercedes-Benz "merger" is a good example of the same parts different cost example.

yeah dude it is getting old hearing you bash on infiniti/nissan in a infiniti/nissan forum.. this is probably the 5th thread I've stumbled upon and you had nothing good to say.

115k miles, I have not experienced a single issue except for crap that other drivers caused to my car or was my fault.
