Help with transmission/Warranty issue!!
Hey guys. I have a question: I noticed that my 5th gear was grinding intermittently when I shifted about a year ago. I brought the car to the dealership, they had it for a week and said their master technician would check it out. They told me that they were unable to replicate the situation (that I was imagining it), and gave me the car back. Now my car is no longer under warranty and the grinding problem has become much more frequent and worse. Is there any way I can hold them responsible to repair it even though I’m no longer warranty? It was obviously a problem back when I was under warranty but they did not address it. Thanks in advance for responses
P.S. I took the car to santa monica infiniti, and they are known to be lazy, sleazy s.o.b’s

As long as the dealership has written evidence that you brought the car in with this specific issue, and even tho they weren't able to replicate it, the record serves as your ticket for the repair. Each state's laws are different, but overall, even if you're out of warranty, you can still pressure (or gently prod) them to repair or replace the transmission.
The issue will be how far past your warranty are you? If it's just a few months, you may have a case, if it's a year or two, your SOL (sorry).
Good luck

She's on the money. Dealer should have to take care of it if you had it in for the same problem, and they could not find it.I believe the young LADY is an attorney so she should know...(very fine young lady)
