Brake calipers??
ok so i had a random thought
is it possible to pollish stock brake calipers or are they a material that can not be pollished.
or if possible would it be a bad idea due to losing mass and strength from polishing.
(i got this idea becuase I am currently polishing and porting my intake)

it could be done but i think the effort would not be worth it seeing as they would be the first thing covered in brake dust and would prob be too much work to keep from oxidizing

well my original thought was polish them and put some kinda clear coat like g2 caliper paint becuase i have used that the brake dust simply whipes off or sometimes completely rinses off with water
like i said just a thought (ive been going polish crazy you could say)

that might work. ive polished bike parts before and automotive cleared them and they usually hold up fairly well as long as it doesnt get nicked or scratched.
do a google search for polished calipers to get an idea. i know ive seen a bunch of guys do them on other forums. not my cup of tea but i suposse its better than stock

Yea im not exactly a fan of it either but i saw an IS-F with polished calipers and it matched well with his rims and it was different but i liked it.
anyways it was just a thought as of now i have them painted black its simple

Since I have G35 OCD I took what you're doing one step further. While I was having my Volks re-polished and SLICK was on jackstands I painted her calipers/rotors, cleaned the undercarriage and polished the rear frame crossover and spring carriers along with the complete HKS exhaust. The material the calipers are made of won't polish well, just paint them black or silver. Bringing attention to your OE calipers isn't a great idea when you've spent all the $$ on very cool aftermarket wheels. You want the attention focused on those wheels....

your right which is why i took the path of just painting black so i draw all the attention to my volks which i need to get the lips re polished
(starting to look bad on my passenger fron wheel.)

Yes, you can polish aluminum calipers. It's a pita though and required perodic maintainence. It will haze up over time.
Some clearcoat paints will yellow from heat, so your polished calipers might develop a pee-colored tint to them over time.
Just go for paint. Much less maintainence required. I did my calipers and rotors in high temp silver. I hate dirty, rusty looking brakes. Nothing looks worse to me than seeing nice wheels with rusty brakes. The brake is part of the wheel package IMHO
