So i went in for an OC test, and it failed.....burning almost a quort of oil every 1k miles.

The dealership didnt say anything about my after market parts or the Test pipes. They didnt even ask for any srvice records! I get a call a few days later saying that my new "Small (or short) Block" is on its way. I was informed that they do not replace the engine anymore, but just the "small block"

Is this similare to getting a new engine?

I will definitely be takling off my MREV2, and spacers. But can i get away with leaving the test pipes on when i bring it in for the new "small block"?

 

I would take off the TP just in case.

 

I believe the short block will be a new block with all new internals. So yes, it's basically a brand new engine.

if they didnt say anything about it when you brought it into the shop....then why worry about it now?

 

I have to restrain myself but really you have some work done to your car and dont know what a small block is?

Im going to be nice and answer though. Small block is the lower part of your engine including the internals such as crank and rods. As compared to a long block which is your heads and up. Your getting a new bottom end, but i would have them test your heads out. The springs and such wear down over time and it may be wise to invest in a rebuild of them to make sure they dont wear on the new bottom.

As for you parts. I would just remove them because if the shop happens to mess them up they wont repair or replace them. They will say the are aftermarket and not responsible. Or parts will come up missing.
