overheated or bad sensor?

overheated or bad sensor?

04 coupe was driving fine but temperture gause went up to H, check coolant and oil was full, what could be go wrong here? could it be a fault reading by bad sensor?

did u pull over immediately and check the coolant or hear for boiling? If not then who knows what really happened.

If you did and everything was good you should keep an eye on your coolant level and if it attempts to occur again then you should take action.

how old is your coolant and when was your thermostat last changed?

Maybe the thermostat..Search it, I'm sure some have replaced on here.
I had one go bad on an Triumph TR7 back in the 80's. Engine overheated pretty quick.

yes i pulled over and check coolant and oil and all full level.
this only happen when i drive more than 40 min

With a bad thermostat it could take 40min if your not driving the engine too hard. Its worth a look. It could be something else too.

sounds like a thermostat to me. Your stuf was still full, but overheating, prob because the thermo is sticking closed. Its is an 04 if you havent changed the thermo that be the best bet. It isnt hard to to, a little pain in the butt with these cars. But not to bad.

nevermind, just found out left fan wasn't on even when i turn on ac. is it coolant fan? the one on the driver side attach to radiator.

when i get a chance i bought the shop manual on my 05, but should be the same stuff. Ill try geting you the instruction on thermo and cooling fan. I cant think of you answer with out looking at my g35 lol. i havent really doe much work to it yet. So i dont know off top off my head. But i wont get the chance till about monday sorry bro.

also forget to tell you some basic stuff, again havent takin close look. But thermo are usually.....if you follow lower radiator hose to engine thats where youll find it. I believe on ours it on drivers side of motor. for the coolant fan it can get tricky sometimes. because it could be more then just the fan it self going bad. You gota check make sure you getting power to the fan first(test light, multi-meter, what ever) if it shows it isnt getting power to the fan could be coolant temp switch, or not so often wiring usualy at the connector to the fan. I hopes this helps you out a little, sorry i cant do much more for right now.

make sure your cooling fans are turning on. there is an extended warranty out for them cuz they tend to fail over time. thats the ONLY time ive seen a G overheat.

problem solved, stupid fuse 40 burned, did know until i took out the fan and test the motor.

btw, did all sparklugs and oilchanged save over 150 bucks, easy job haha.
