lol, its good to know someone else handles the tough decisions in life the same way as me! i ended up settling for a duralast simply because I needed a stinkin battery and that was all that they offered me.

My Yellow Top dies all the time! I think I have a parasitic power loss somewhere.

Well you can go to autozone they check batteries and alternators for free i know worked there for a year and a half aftermarket batteries usaully last 1-3 years depending on which one you buy cca and quality oem last 5-6 years optimum battery 2-4 plus you get 3 years warranty i would never buy another battery other optimum

They say the yellow is better for sound systems and truck but i had the red top in my legend coupe for 3 yrs no problems the car had 2 12 pumping 1200 watts and 1000 watt amp worked great

I went yo ntb this morning and it was indeed my oem battery going dead so I got a new battery for $135 installed.

But while going to work I put my drivers side window down and tried to put the window up and it won't go up!!! Awesome

i bought one of the optima batteries for my old g35 and it was deader than fried chicken right out of the box. The oem batteries are pretty good, and the dealership swapped it out for free even though i was out of warranty. I'll never buy another optima battery again, just seems like a gimmick.

Optima's are no gimmick, even Aircraft Support Equipment I use everyday at work have Red-tops.
^^
I got a free used Yellow top because it was "dead". I been using in ever since 2006 with my JL audio 500W amp and two JL 10W3v3 subs since installed it, no problems yet.

yellow top is a deep cycle battery as well as a starting battery

the reason its good for audio and accessories is that the battery is made to be drained and then refilled numerous times. It hold the charge for a very long time and has no issues when starting.

The yellow top is perfect if you play your set up with the car OFF for long periods of time.

Redtop is a starting battery, its made to be stored for long times without having any issues. Its made to have a high CCA in all temps. The redtop also has a large storage capacity and will work for audio setups also.

ive used both and both a re great batteries. The yellow top is more expensive because its both a deep cycle and a starting battery.

If you are running a simple amp and head unit combo any decent battery will work

Optima is the bose of batteries IMO.

Kinetik is the way to go if you need huge reserve times or a big starting battery

I myself run a battery from Sams. It was $80 and has a 3 year replace / 84 month prorate. Its been ruining fine for a year and I run roughly 1600rms in my car daily.

Optima is 1 year on reds and I think 90 day on yellow tops

you'd think they would test them before they send them out to people as brand new......When I asked them why i was sent a "new" battery that measured 8 volts, they said they don't have the time to measure every battery before they send it out....nice quality control.

Optima never offered to re-imburse me for the time to install & remove the dead new battery they sent me, and I actually had to dispute my C/C charge for it just to get my money back after it was returned to them.

Optima ftw. Great batteries. Check out summitracing they usually have them in stock. Also local places jack up the price. I would look online and it will be delivered to your doorstep.
