Totaled G Coupe...salvage inspection?

So yea, it happened, deemed 100% the dumb B**** fault, so i got $ to fix my baby...curtain/seat airbags deployed sides smashed but font and back still pristine, suspension seems to be fine as well. so i want to take it to a shop for work and my question was can i get some seats not straight from factory? i told the shop and they said i have to have the receipt. it may be true but is it? what about doors aswell? or are they just trying to suck more $$ outta me?

Thanks in advance

Find a shop that will work with you. Most of the time a shop if the seats cost about the same will have no problem trading in and will just put it in as "seats" in the bill. Maybe its how it worded that confusing but i think your saying they just want to releather and stick an airbag in? I also dont get what you mean about the door. If you had it inspected and its her fault she should have to pay. If they dont get a lawyer.

Another thing to look into is the depreciated value. Your car is going to have that accident on there and now wont sell as much in the end. They will cut you a check for the amount they think it will lose due to this.

@ project, I am a little confused by the wordind, and yes both the doors are smashed the girl cut across 3 lanes after exiting from the highway w.o stopping, I moved over to avoid, she kept coming anyway hit the passenger side and pushed me into an SUV let's say I buy doors and seats off another totaled G,but with read or front end collision, would I be able to have a shop use THOSE parts to fix it? Is what I'm trying to get at

You can do whatever the hell you want. If you have the money in hand, just buy all the parts you want from wherever you want and drop it off at the shop and tell them to install it. Or you can give the shop a shopping list with vendor contact info and have them do it so it's shipped to them and you don't have to worry about it, but I don't recommend that because if they buy the wrong thing that's gonna suck.

Now if you didn't have the money yet and the insurance company was still waiting for estimates, as long as your non OEM parts didn't cost more, the shop would just write it off as whatever it is. If it did cost more, you can just pay the difference and the insurance company would never know. If it costs less, you win and keep what's left of the money. Accidents are good and bad.. Good in that you can finally upgrade the car but bad because the value goes down and it's just a big pain in the ***.

Shops will always use factory pricing for parts and that's what the insurance companies go off of. So yes, you are allowed to go to the junk yard and get two doors and two seats off of another G and pocket the rest of the money.

A lot of shops will say no because they will lose money on the deal. Something similar happened to me when I hit a bobcat. I just needed the front bumper replaced and I had a friend with a used OEM bumper and they told me they would not use the part unless they bought it.

^ then that shop is dumb. Take your business elsewhere and they're out whatever you were going to pay them anyway. It's your car and you get to do whatever you want with it. You're the one hiring them to work on the car.

Ok, they are doing this protect themselves. They need a receipt to make sure you didn't purchase stolen parts.

Most of the time, they don't want to installed "used" crap for liability concerns. But some shops don't care.

The place you took it too seems paranoid. But, if I had a shop and some guy came up to me with a bunch of parts saying he wanted them installed instead of buying new parts, I would be a little skeptical and want to see some receipts.
