Alright guys, I can't afford new wheels and my OEM 19s are a bit beat up, so I was planning on having them powdercoated black. However, I'm stuck on whether or not to go with a gloss black w/ polished rim or an all matte black. I haven't seen either option in person, so I'd be interested to know what the rest of you think about such a combo.

By the way, my G is an 07 OB coupe.

Go gunmetal. I like the contrast it gives over gloss/matte black. Another option for you since you can afford wheels right now is to just save the $500 bucks its gonna cost to PC your wheels. If you save about $1500 you can get some nice used wheels.

I was originally going to go with gunmetal, but all the gunmetal wheels that I saw just looked like they were covered in brake dust unless they were like Volks or something like that. There are a lot of Audi's in my neighborhood and their gunmetal wheels look terrible, so I thought black would be a better option.

I also did think about just saving up for some new wheels, but honestly I have trouble justifying buying new wheels when I like the OEM 19s just fine.

Blacks even worse for cleaning. They dirty quicker too.

FWIW I have read that the high heat involved in the powder coating process is not recommended and can weaken the structural integrity of the wheels. I'll try to find the article. I don't know if it holds true for all wheels. Maybe someone else knows more.

That's pretty interesting stuff? Has anyone used it before and can give testimony?

Thats why I posted it...I had the same question.
Maybe posting it in a more general thread area would generate more replies. Go for it!

The grammar and punctuation in that article were pretty terrible. It seemed like a foreigner wrote it...so I kept reading it with an Eastern European accent.

Are you sure? I mean, due to my pea (sp.) sized brain, I am just not sure.

Any more opinions on powder coating wheels?

I've done my research on powder coating weakening wheels and it seems the only concern is if the shop bakes it too hot or too many times. Otherwise, I can't find anyone saying that having it done right once causes problems.

So, I'm gonna move forward with powder coating and the poll is tied between gloss black and matte black. Anyone else have an opinion?

Pc'ing weakens cast not forged wheel, my OEM Ray's are PC'ed semi-gloss black for over a year, they are easy to clean, and I have never had a problem for them.
