it doesn't matter what anyone post in any of these kinda threads

its always wrong

1k,3k,5k,7k intervals are all wrong

synthetic is wrong

dino oil is wrong

and apparently washing your oil filters with water is wrong

just change your oil whenever you feel. There is no right or wrong answer as long as you do it in a some what reasonable time frame or stick with what the manufacturer states.

As long as you change it before the TBN additive is done its fine. UAO's can prove if you can go for longer or not.

truth is most of us will never do that

My dad has a 1992 chevy truck with 275k. He has only run whatever oil was on sale. I dont think the guy has ever paid more than $20 for oil and a filter.

He changes it out every 5k and has never had any kinda issue.

I dont think the oil he uses is even a name brand

Just says 10-30 and $1.25

You dudes need to relax hah. I somehow misread what he said, and thought he was talking about an "air" filter. Seriously...

honestly w/pretty much any car built w/in the last 10yrs you can go 7-10k between changes. I go about every 5k just because i was so used to going every 3-3.5k.

What's the deal on the new motor? Fresh rebuild? new reman? new longblock? What parts were changed exactly?

Usually with new motor break-in i do first change @ 1000-1500 miles, and then go into my normal routine after that.

New longblock with 4k miles from tsb. Going to get a UOA done soon to see how well my fresh motor is doing.
