Engine bay trim panels missing.
Yes, they are the same clips. You can purchase a bag of 8 from Riverside Infiniti. If you are in a hurry strangely enough LOWES carries some automotive fasteners in their screw, nut, bolt, nail aisle. They are where they have the drawers full of speciality fasterners labeled Automotive. O'Reilly also sells them. N80 buy the already trimmed one its like $10.00 more and like I said 15 min. with complete instructions.
Fitting that cover on the drivers side is so easy, set it where it's supposed to go and trim around the edges until it fits. A blind monkey with a pocket knife could do this, why pay $10 more for someone to do it for ya?
Push clips are available from Nissan or Infiniti, never hurts to have a few extra cause they break.

I'm actually the OP. I was just curious about why the panel wasn't there. I'm not too interested in putting one in. If I was I could go either way with trimmed vs not trimmed. A lot of us can do this sort of thing but a lot of us don't have the time to do it, in which case the $10 would probably be worth it. But $30 for the part, $10 more for the trimmed and $8 for clips and you're pushing $50. I'm going to save my money and just not look under there anymore.
Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that you couldn't do it. Just saying that the already fitted comes with the clips and the metal bracket that is required so you have everything you need from the get go. Most importantly it comes with instructions with photos that I found very helpful. Wouldn't help the blind monkey much though!!
Your's must not fit like mine. Not only can you add fluid by just removing the battery cover door. But, I have a Mityvac Clamp-on Auto-refill kit with a forty ounce reservoir for bleeding and refilling the brake lines which will also fit without removing the entire cover.
Hey BlkCoupe, this is hijakcing a bit but since I'm the OP....how do you like the auto refill kit? I'm hoping to start tracking mine soon and it would be nice to have an easy way to bleed and change fluids. How much does it cost? How hard to install? Going to be getting new pads, maybe stainless hoses and front rotors too so this owuld be the time to do it I suppose.
Sorry jibber I have an auto. N80 I have the Mityvac Model MVA6832. Prices vary widely from around $35 up. Gotta watch the shipping though. The $35 dollar one is on Amazon but shippings $12. It works great but is not a necessity if you keep your eye on the reservior. If your going to be changing brake fluid alot (i.e. tracking your car) it would be worth it.
On the Z you've still gotta pull the **** up to get to the clutch.
Just installed the JDM Battery Cover in my car this weekend. I bought the "pre-cut" one and it was a pretty simple install.
Took a little fighting with the "weather strips" to get everything in, but took about 15 min in total.
For $10 more I would get the pre-cut one because it already comes with 5 clips ($5.50 for 5 clips at the dealership by my house) and you don't have to worry about cutting it yourself.
Looks so much cleaner under the hood now.
