I bought a new G35 (model:2008) in 2009. After driving it for less than 10 kilometers, I noticed that the RPM suddenly drops, causing the car to shake heavily, and it then goes up back to normal. I've recorded a video which can be seen at
This happens early in the morning and also happens whenever I stop at traffic lights (regardless if the weather is cold or not). The car has 30k on it now and it still suffers from the same problem.

I have given the car to the dealer 4 times already to fix this problem. Everytime, it gets fixed but after a couple of days it returns to the same problem.

I am very disappointed and a bit hopeless here, what do you think this problem could be? is it a serious engine problem? Would really appreciate your feedback.

On a side note, when filing up the gas tank, I use the higher priced GAS and not the normal GAS.

Since your '08 is still under warranty you should take it back again. This time tell them you don't want it back until the problem is resolved! Keep a cool head but be firm, you want it fixed! If they give you any back talk, ask them if they would pay to have the knowledgeable mechanics at Nissan fix the problem? I've always felt Nissan guys were better trained....

Damn man hopefully you can find a solution soon.

do an idle relearn... theres a diy around here somewhere on how to reset your idle... that may be the culprit.

Otherwise, demand them to fix it. I would deem the car unsafe in the case you needed to accelerate through an intersection and your car stalled.

UPDATES: I just got the car from the dealership today, they have done the following:

- Clean Throttle Body
- Replaced Sparkplugs
- Replaced Idle Sensor
- Replaced Chamber throttle
- Replaced Gas Padel
- Clean Air-intake
- Idle relearn

I drove the car for some time, stopped at a traffic light, and again, rpm goes down and car vibrates... are these vibrations normal ? I dont have them in my honda and altima, which has over 100k on them, while the G35 only has 30k on it!

No it's not normal! I have an 08 as well and i don't have these problems. I say take it back again. See if you can get another engine or something.

anytime your car starts vibrating and the RPMs drop its not normal. cars dont come from the factory feeling like they are going to stall. take it back and show them the new problem.

Did u ever fix this issue? My old maxima suffered from this and I worked around it by giving the car gas until the engine warmed up...

mine does the same but when i stop at a stoplight like every 1/10 times.

I am taking it into the dealer and raising hell if they dont fix this, absolutely unacceptable for an 08 makes the car feel so cheap

Could moisture in the engine be causing this or poor quality gas?

No update, the problem was never solved.

It's totally wrong that you continue to have an issue with your Infiniti that the stealership can't correct! I would seriously take it to Nissan and pay them to discover the problem and give the bill to Infiniti.... Wish you lived in SoCal I know just the mechanic that could figure this out!
