Anyone put copper on a DG?
I going to...
Submitted for your entertainment.
What had happened was... Awhile ago I picked up an extra set of super clean 05 headlights, so I decided to bust open and mod out my original set. I painted them matte black to match my grille, and added some LEDs. This is what that looked like.
I came too today after the NYE debauchery thinking about doing something ridiculous. I've mentioned this a few time, and decided it was time. I yanked out the modded lights and grille and put the clean stock set back in to prep for the color change. This is what my DG looks like now.
...and the copper.
Tomorrow the grille get's a fresh gloss black coat, and clear coats all around. Then I'll retire the stock setup again and swap in the copper lights and updated grille.
Even if it looks like ish when it's done, at least it will out of my system. I'll just repaint some other hideous color... like metallic blue. I do what I want!

Thanks for comments folks.
We'll see if my girl know what she's talking about. She said she liked them, but they aren't in the car yet... I'll try not to sleep in to late so I can get this stuff installed and take some pics. I think I'm still in NYE mode being up this late.
Yes. I was going to clear coat everything, but then decided I didn't care. Headlights all but done... I just need to heat n squeeze now. The grille is also done.
Not bad time. I popped the hood around 1pm today. Got everything swapped out in about 30 minutes, then got started painting. I'm getting pretty good at this process, lol.
Sorry for the crappy BB pics...
Yeah, I'm a little worried about how bright it came out. I was hoping it would come out a bit darker than it did. I don't know what color I should go to if they look bad installed... maybe a metallic blue

I agree, there needs to be copper accents on your car somewhere else to tie in with the headlights and grill.

Like most everyone says, (not that they really mean it) "It's your car do what you want!" Logically some colors don't work well together, OB will work with any color it's just a matter of how wild you want to go. In my opinion with DG the only thing that looks great is black or color matched. Even then black can be overdone with c/f hood, trunk and doors so it looks like a patch work quilt....

Before the flames start to spread I want to make it clear that I do understand that there is a possibility of this color combo causing seizures. The cool thing about DIY'n it is that I can just rip it out and start over. This change cost virtually nothing, and to be able to give folks something entertaining to look as is worth my time.
It was raining yesterday so I had to do all the spraying in the garage. Now it's time to pull the G back in and get read for the swap... but first, I have to squish these lights back together.
