Car doesnt start untill i give it throttle some times
Info on car:
New Battery
New negative and positive terminals
Keys reprogramed
So in the first 2 years I had my car, maybe twice a year it wouldn't start. As in I would try a few times for maybe a span of 5 minutes with no luck.
I had oc, and put in a built engine about a 7 months ago, once I had the built engine put in,
Ii have had maybe 10 times where the car wouldn't start. I noticed it would usually be when the car is warmed up. Sat for maybe an hr and tried to turn back on ( out side was maybe 45 degress).
I tried something new, when I press the throttle WOT or at least half way while cracking it finally starts.... starts up slow but actually starts.
The last 4-5 times car wouldn't start I added the throttle and it starts every time slowly of course.
Only thing different on my car, is I now have cams( s7 rev up, very mild barley and lob at idol), Car is tuned.
Any Ideas? And if its with the tune does that mean I need to deal with tuning the cranking tables? start enrichment? or just more fuel on the targets and/or compensation?
thanks, if this has happened to anyone else id loved to know how you fixed it.

Sounds like it could be a very easy fix my friend.
Could be one of two things...
!. MAF sensor is dirty. Get some MAF cleaner pull it out, spray er down and hope that works.
2. The throttle body is dirty and has build up. Get some throttle body cleaner, spray er down, and hope that works.
Both of these sprays/cleaners can be found at any basic auto parts stores for about 5-8 bucks each. Do a search on idle issues and there are plenty of DIYs on how the process works. Hope this helps bud.
You didn't mention the miles but this is a normal issue for our cars with higher mileage.

Thanks for the response.
New engine had 4 k miles on it.
I also have a brand new throttle body that had 5k miles on it. the old one crapped out right before the engine swap.
I will try to clean the maf then shouldnt be hard.
if anyone else had the problem let me know.
I just read up on my350z it had to do with the tuning, they said the car is getting too much fuel, i thought it was the opposite so I want to see if anyone else here has it

i have a similar issue on my car - 67,000 miles with a vortech SC... i notice the issue most often in the cold... not sure, but i assume it has to do with the colder weather since my car was tuned in 90 degree weather.
It isn't the MAF sensor as i have eliminated that with the Haltech EMS

^ I agree and was my first thought reading title of thread.
OP: Don't know much all what could be involved with a custom tune being I've never had one on my G, but many times it's just performing the throttle position calibration procedure. It's worth a shot, it's somewhat simple to do AND it's free to DIY.
If that doesn't work, I've heard similar and it ends up being the TB sensor itself bad and TB must be replaced.

Thanks for the look out on the tb, I will re program it my self, not sure if the dealer did it right.....
I should have added that I have a new tb as well, about 7k on that.
Pretty much everything was changed on my car, such reliable infinites LOL
I am also going to change my up rev starting enrichment tables.
Someone on my350z said since I have bigger cams the car is now sucking in more air and thus needs more fuel....
Makes a lot of sense, they also said it's a million times easier for a car to start on the rich side than lean.
If that's true I am still wondering it happened sometimes before the new engine and tune.
I will reflash and report back.

I was going to say it sounds like your not getting enough fuel to start. What in all is done to the engine besides the cam and tune? Are you running boost?
If the car was sitting for a period while it was being built it could be a buildup issue. I would run some cleaner through or do the seafoam purge. I know my car wouldnt even start up after it had sat for two months and actually shut down and would only crank then not stay on.
