hahaha this is funny here. The 08 is so different from the 07. 07 with the sensitive throttle feels snapping your back the 08 is smooth. So linear acceleration you don't feel it at all. Perhaps maybe that is why you think your 06 is faster.

The 08 should be a lot quicker than the 06. I think a 1/4 drag is in order.

Maybe its because my car is putting down similar hp and tq figures. It also weighs less; couple hundred pounds less. I dont see why it wouldnt be faster. He himself said that my car pulls stronger through the gears than his 08. Could be an isolated event where his car is abused or running on 89 octane gas or something. Who knows. Didnt mean to get the 2nd Gen owners' panties in a bunch.

The 03-07 G35 Coupe was Infiniti BEST SELLING vehicle of all time. It put Infiniti on the map. That alone tells you a lot.

And who cares if the Sedan is "faster". We can add stuff to the coupe to make it "faster".

At the end of the day, the Sedan still has that stupid acceleration lag.

Step on the gas, wait 2 seconds, then ZOOM. lol wtf.

I'm sure most sedan owners are use to it, but when I had the loaner, both 09, and even the 2010 loaner with only 4k miles on it. I hated it. And couldn't wait to get my 6mt Coupe back.

^ Ur probably use to it. I got use to it after driving the loaner for a week or so.

But I noticed it right when I hopped in and drove off. I brought this up a while back and most say they loved it because it causes your head the jerk back when the car finally takes off.

I prefer the smoother shifts when driving an auto.

This is not a debate about the DE being better than the HR. Thats just plain silly. Rather, It is about the strong points of the DE. I for one think its smoother than the HR. And in my case, Its making about the same HP and TQ. Please correct me if Im wrong. Again, this is strictly between the VQ35DE and the VQ35HR.

Update: Finally got to do a legit race. Raced from a dig to about 70mph. I was ahead by about 2 car lengths the entire time.

Not everyone can drive those cars... here is the example of bone stock g35s 2007 with 1/4mile in 13.538s

Good driver with VQ35DE and good bolt-ons can do even 13.7s...
But good driver with stock VQ35HR can do a little better...

I hope that the guy in G35x knows that he need to stall it against the brake to get higher rpm's at start + vdc off?

Do you know your 0-60, 1/4 times ?

^ We both brake-torqued and turned VDC off. I launched at ~2k rpm's, he launched at about the same. Surprisingly, I had the jump on him.
Last time I recorded a 0-60 run and clocked a good 5.5-5.6 sec. I had one passenger with a digital clock and later acknowledged the times using the video. Maybe I couldve gone quicker without that passenger? Ill try again soon. As for the 1/4 mile, Im not sure. Id like to go to a drag strip soon though.
