06 G35 > 08 G35x

I drove my friends 08 IP sedan today for about half an hour. I decided to see just how much faster it is than my car. Turns out, my car is a lot quicker and torquier than his. Mind you, I am lightly modded, but the difference was too much to miss. Has anyone ever driven a second gen only to find out that his/her first gen would run circles around it? Or was it the opposite? Btw, his car has ~40k miles and mine has 69k.

I drove a 2010 Sedan Loaner with only 4 miles on it! It had HORRIBLE acceleration lag. And the steering wheel didn't feel comfortable at all. I think it was a bit fat.

A day before that, I was given a 2010 V6 Camry Loaner and that was a lot better! LOL

No acceleration lag, and no HARSH acceleration during the transition from from to 2nd gear. The Toyota was SMOOTH.

The only good thing about it was the Push Button starter. That was pimp.

HUH?!? That's weird. 2010 was really felt slower then an 06? I test drove it the 09 and thought is was a little bit quicker then mine. Felt smoother too between the gears.

All wheel vs. Rear wheel? I could see a rear wheel being a little better.

Yeah there's gonna be more parasitic loss in an awd drivetrain.

The acceleration is a lot more brisk in my 06. And yes, the push button is pimp. Thats one of the many things I like about the 08. On a side note, I thought his car would feel quicker off the line because of the AWD but again, I was wrong.

The awd car would only be quicker off the line if traction is an issue. If traction isn't an issue for the rwd then how it "feels" off the line is primarily dependent on the driver and how he or she launches.
But anyways, I don't doubt your 06 feels more brisk. I've driven both, bone stock and they felt very similar imo.

I'm being modest when I say brisk. it's more like, I'll put buslengths on him if we ever raced. I have a plenum spacer, magnaflow muffler, stillen tube and k&n filter. Maybe now my engine is making power close to that of the 2nd Gens. I know it makes slightly more tq at lower rpm's :P Haven't gotten on a dyno but I will after I install my grounding wires and possibly HFC.

Perhaps the "feeling" feels slower.... but I race my friend's 1st gen and i walk him pretty hard from a dig, roll, wutever. and i would drive his car and he would drive mine, same results.

Take any stock '06, AT or MT, and put it against a stock '07, '08 or '10...
There's isn't an 06 on the planet that will hold a candle to the others.

Not even getting into the design changes... strictly talking performance.
And don't bother bringing RWD or AWD into the conversation. There's not enough differenence on the street or on the track for it to be much of an advantage on either side.

The 07 had a very sensitive throttle... so sensitive in fact that a TSB came out to reduce that sensitivity. The 08 has this ECU update in place. The 10's have a 7AT, so it feels completely different.
Either way, they're all more powerful than the 06 models.

Dual Intake FTMTF...Hows like no other and pulls hard til redline...I agree; 06 cannot compare with the 07+. Hell, my 07 G35X feels just as quick as my 04 350Z
