The G-Spot General discussion about the G Series;
G35 & G37, Coupes & Sedans

I guess the G makes a lot of power for a V6? A8L V8 ONLY makes 330HP??

There is something crazy about the vettes. My friends dad has one with 400whp that gets a little over 30 at 80mph. It's crazy.

weight close to nothingand the actuall fact that yes they get awsome MPG for a huge V8 but thats rated MPG in my G i can pound on it on the hwy winding through gears and maybe use 1/4 tank of gas between my house and college (about 30 miles) but in the vette ill use closeto 3/4 the tank of gas.

It actually has a lot to do with the fact that it has a really tall overdrive gear. And the reason why you would use that much gas in the vette is because it's got almost double the horsepower and displacement. It's like saying, when I fight a girl I don't get really tired, but when I fight Mike Tyson, he beats the **** out of me. Two completely different leagues of cars.

But what im getting at is still at the end of the day the vette says its gets better MPG which automatically leads people to think the car is good on gas alltogether, which it isnt. Also the girls puch isnt going to be near as hard as mike tysons either, nor will she take the beating Tyson can

The S4 was priced just under 50k with that V8 in there. The RS4. with the 420hp version of the same engine design was around 70k. Also, an 05 S4 is as fast, if not a tad faster, than a G37 Coupe. It was good for mid 13s in the quarter mile with trap speeds ranging from 101-104mph.

The point is, if you drive normally and keep pace with traffic, then yes, the Vette gets better gas mileage than the G. Once you start beating on it, of course you'll get worse gas mileage with a 430hp 6.3L V8/505hp 7.0L V8 than a 306hp 3.5l V6, but even beating on it, I'd be interested to see how much worse the gas mileage on the Vette really is. Next time I go to an autocross event I'll talk to some of the Vette owners. And the part I bolded, that was my other point. The G's punch isn't as hard as the Vette's punch, nor will it give the same driving experience.
