Nissan loses at least 2,300 vehicles in earthquake, tsunami
yea ok, try to justify this topic all you want, bottom line is it's absolutely INSENSITIVE to the real issue at hand and the people themselves!
go to Japan right now and try to discuss the topic of lost material things with anybody in Japan at this very moment and see how far you get with it buddy!
all I'm gonna say is you look at that picture I posted and from what you see in the picture you guys are choosing to discuss that piece of metal that is that young girls grave, like really...
out of all the things in that picture you think that's something worthy of it's own topic
there is no reply and nothing you can say to explain that, don't give a fck how big your paragraph is N80
i'm out this thread, peace

I don't really understand why two or three individuals feel like they can dictate what is discussed here. I mean, do these guys have some sort of moral superiority over the rest of us? Are they more sympathetic? Are they better people?
The answer is "no" of course. And the proof is obvious, right? They feel like they are superior enough to dictate that posting here on any subject other than the suffering in Japan is insensitive.....and yet, isn't lecturing the rest of us about insensitivty, just as insensitive to the plight of the Japanese and just as irrelevant to their needs? Obviously. The word you are probably looking for right now is "hypocrite". Right?
And Adon, we're not in Japan and we're not doing anything to hurt the victims or belittle their suffering. Don't you get that? If this was a Red Cross web site, or a site memorializing the victims then discussing material losses would indeed be heartless and inexcusable. But this is a CAR WEB SITE! Discussing cars is why it exists.
Would it be wrong, on a geology web site to discuss the dynamics of the earth quake? Would it be wrong on an engineering web site to discuss the effects of the tsunami on structures? Again, of course not.
So yes, it is perfectly reasonable, sane and civilized to discuss material losses to an automaker even as this tragedy unfolds. And no, it does not mean that anyone who does so is heartless in any way. And yes, it is wrong, rude and self righteous for someone to tell us we can't have such discussions in the appropriate place and context. And doing so trivializes the tragedy in its own way, reducing it to an instrument for bullying and posturing.

Yea that was a sad picture of that girl I plan on donating some $$ because that's all I can really do..
Back to topic and I'm not trying to be insensitive but this is a car site so my question is what are they going to do with all those cars?I live in new Orleans and when hurrican Katrina came through(yes I lost everything)I had a Chevrolet caprice and the water was almost to the door handle but I droped the oil and tranny pan replaced all the fluids and alternator and it started right up and ran good for the next 2years UNTILL someone stole it.I don't know anything about what type of damage sea water can cause but I can't imagine it being worse than river water idk.

ABC news showed two stray dogs in the streets of Japan this morning. Should they not have bothered because they are just dogs when there are thousands of people dead, dying, missing?
All these "little" things help put such a large scale disaster into perspective for us.
It seems there has been enough hard feelings and frustration in this thread... Sucks that that many people died, there is no doubt about it. Sucks to see that many cars gone to waste but my bigger concern is the economics of all this. I read the nearby plant where most of these cars were made is destroyed... This could be a devastating blow to the world economy and Nissan along with many other companies...
I am locking the thread to end all disagreements... If someone can see a reason for it to be opened back up.... PM ME!!!!
