Help! G Broke Down...

Hey everyone.

Sooooo I started up my car tonight and I immediately noticed the steering wheel seemed locked and would not turn normally. I could still turn it but it was very hard to do so and was stuck as if the car was still off. I also noticed that the brake light and the battery lights were both on.

Needless to say I was pretty pissed, but I decided to try and drive the car home and deal with the problem in the morning. I was able to get the car back to my neighborhood but when I pulled into my street the car all of a sudden lost power to the wheels. I had the car in first gear and was flooring it, but the car would only move at about 2-3 miles an hour. Thankfully I got the car back into my driveway but when I turned the car off I tried to turn it back on to see if the car "fixed itself" in any way, but the battery was dead. It was all very strange and I don't really know what the problem is. Has anyone dealt with any of these problems??! Not too happy right now...

Thanks in advance.

IDK, Check the belts?
cuz if your battery is dead - alternator is not running,
not turning - Power searing pump not running
Good luck tho

Checked my belts today and that seems to be the problem. The belt was completely off the track and I believe that it powers the alternator and power steering pump which would explain all of my problems.

I was worried too that it was gonna be really expensive but it seems like it will be an easy fix

G35 sedan w/ too much money in mods
Replacing the belts is at most a 45 minute DIY job. If you haven't done it before look for a DIY thread here or on infinitihelp.com for guidance. One of the easiest DIYs I have done on the G.

This just happened to me today, was all of a sudden driving then lost power steering and battery and brake lights came on. I noticed you guys said this is an inexpensive fix. How inexpensive? I haven't popped the hood yet to check because it's still hot in the engine bay. If its the same belt situation, where do I go to get another belt? Autozone? Infiniti? Local mechanic store? Thanks for any insight

Get the belts from infiniti and have them put them on, or just get the belts from them?

Why get them from infiniti only? I got my belts from Autozone ~40K miles ago, installed them myself and they still look great, no slipping, no cracking yet.
