I've seen this too, you buy their car and spend the length of ownership advertising for them....what's with that? We have dealership license plate frames here in CA., that's the first thing that comes off when we get home.
There may be shadows left after you've debadged but that can easily be removed with high speed buffer and compound leaving a flawless trunk lid. I didn't have a high speed buffer so I paid one of my local detail shops $20 to get 'er done and well worth the results!

dw-40?? wow.. i used something simmiler to goo gone. dental floss for my badges. I invested in a high speed buffer a few years back.. best investment ever!!! some hard wax with that high speed buffer same day no ghost lines nothing.. As if it came stock like that from factory. i tell everyone buy a high speed buffer.. My headlights are always shinny and never look dull.. plus I get ppl always paying me to do there lights

when i took off my emblems there was that real hard crusty stuff that goo gone would not take off. So i searched around my trunk and found a BMW product called "tar remover" that my dad had given to me and it came off like it was never there. straight up magic spray action

Mine left marks, although you can't really see it unless you're looking for it. Still, kinda annoying.
