Tires rubbing on fender liner
Tires rubbing on fender liner
So I purchased new 19" rims for my 2005 G35 and I noticed my tires were hitting something in the rear area when I would go over dips on the road/highway. I took it to Infiniti to see what the problem was and they told me it was my tires rubbing the fender liner.
Specs for tires/rims:
Front: 245/35/19" 8.5 wide
Rear: 275/35/19" 9.5 wide
I really want to keep these rims. I don't want to remove the liner
because that can cause rusting especially here in Toronto. What
can I do to prevent this rubbing?? Will spacers work? Any ideas guys?? Please help!!

This is tough to answer since we don't have the offsets of your wheels or know where your tires are rubbing. It's highly unusual for anyone to have rubbing issues on the fender liner unless you're dropped in excess of 3". Asking advice from the dealership is worthless with a modified G35 all you'll get is

is the fender liner damaged at all? does it appear to have scuffs from the rubber? Ive never heard of someone's factory size rim/tire combo hit the fender liner. its designed not to do that...maybe if you had dubz on it with really wide tires but not with 19s...

You're probably rubbing on the inside of the fender. Easy solution, get them rolled and you should be good. You might want to think about going to a 275/30 to give you a touch more clearance, but do so knowing ride quality will suffer.
You gotta pay to play with the G!

OEM suspension and no drop at all

You're not rubbing on the liner. You're rubbing on your fenders and should get them rolled. You're also running wider tires on those widths too, which cause the tire to stick out past the rim a bit.
Like you said, it only rubs when you hit dips and bumps on the highway. With no suspension mods, there is no way you rub on the fender liner. I'm dropped a decent amount on 20's and I don't even rub on my fender liner.
Dealership has no idea what they're talking about. The last time I was at a dealer, I asked a rep about their Stillen supercharged IPL and he told me it was pushing 600whp.

I need to find an Infiniti mechanic for myself in the GTA for any issue I have here on out. But I'll look into rolling them. Know anyone good around Toronto who can do this? (no bats please and thanks)
