Any car that's garage kept and covered when parked at work will look good for a very long time. If the owner will stop at a paintless dent removal shop once in a while parking lot dings won't be a factor. I did all the above with my '92 Nissan 300ZXTT until I sold it in '04, no one would believe it hadn't been repainted and the interior was flawless too.

Dude, premium wax lasts like 15 minutes in Texas. Bird doo + one day of sun = death.

Up here things are so much milder. Road film from rain doesn't form a death grip on your paint in like .02 seconds like Texas.

Definitely shows how proper care can keep a car looking new. I have been neglecting my G since I got my 240Z and it shows.
Yes.

LMAO..

I was wondering if anyone was going to bust on my toes.

These cars are notorious for hood dings, with characterizations of "soft paint". I'm about to shell out $355 to get my hood fixed, with only 7500mi on the car. Had a couple of dings, but last week a bolt came out of nowhere, bounced off the hood lip and hit the windshield. Touch up looks terrible, so off to the body shop.
Hit a golden american finch at about XX MPH. Left micro scratches on the hood. I felt worse for the bird than I did for my hood. He didn't make it.

Disagree.

When I lived in Texas, everything was within three miles of my house. My commute to and from work was 15 miles.

Up here, my commute is less than 7 miles both ways.

I go off the island once a month, maybe, in my car.

I go to the store the average number of times, etc, the only difference is I don't drive far to get there. One end of the Island to the other is about 40 miles and I live close to the 'big part' which is still tiny.

Unless you drive all over and park all over for no reason, I don't see it being that much different - only the distance covered to get there.

Obviously if someone has/uses a garage and that individual isn't a complete moron, then their car would look better then one that is always sitting out in the elements. The way a car is driven is certainly a factor as well when considering the exterior.

what kind of polish every month? i was under the impression you shouldn't polish but maybe 2x a year or so. may be talking about different types of polishing.

regardless...damn nice upkeep man. i've been perusing the detail forums recently and some of the super cars they have on there look 5 times worse than yours. and that just makes me sick that the people that have the money to buy those cars can't drive them or take care of them properly. people like me that, on my current path, can't afford something like that but would take immaculate care of it...it just agitates the **** out of me.

I thought the same thing. I claybar and polish 1-2 times a year, seal/wax (I use a hybrid, Collinite 845) every month or two. Hard to second guess Bob, though, his car looks amazing and frequent polishing sure doesn't seem to have hurt it after a number of years.

So, OP, what polish DO you use monthly?

Bob,

There are too many factors besides age or mileage. Tons of miles on a garage kept car is better than a low mileage TX/NM/AZ car that's kept in the sun all day, and better than a car from the NE where they use lots of salt. You're in a great environment up there for a car. Yes, it rains alot (I used to live in Portland), but you don't have the blazing sun, freezing temps, or any salt. The rain is plentiful, but it's very clean because there's virtually no heavy manufacturing within at least 500 miles, so it's not acidic. I remember seeing lots of 20+ year old cars in Orygun that you could tell hadn't been taken care of, but they still looked pretty good.

And we all know the real reason for this thread. You just wanted to show us how awesome your car looks.

Don't be silly, he wouldn't make people do that. He's got a hypoallergenic footie dispenser in the glove box and hands you a set to put on before your shoes cross the door frame. Duh.

Its easier to sell an older car with low mileage, than a newer car with tons of miles....

No difference at all.

Why the hell would he "pull a fast one on us"?

It's valid to call out 4 year old pics directly under a remark about the car being out in Northwest winters for the past 4-5 years. Imputing the motivation to "pull a fast one" and bro-ing it up is sort of nubby.

BUT.....this thread is worthless without current pics. Post 'em up when you get a chance. And I still want to know which polish.
