seat switches

i have a 04 coupe. the seat switches all work except for the 1 that makes the seat go up and down, it only works to raise the seat up and its stuck on that position ( very uncomfortable ). do I have to spend 1000$ on replacing the bottom of the seat or can I get switches exchange to fix the problem?

You can just change the switch. you take the seat out of the car. There is a black tape covering two screws. then you can unhook the plug from under the seat and change it out.

^ WHS sounds like bad connection with switch if all the other movements are working.

You may be able to take the switch apart and clean the metal contacts inside. Carbon buildup can result in the electrical current not connecting through when you use the switch.

I'd take the switch completely apart and examine the interior to check for carbon buildup before investing in a new switch. You will have to take the entire driver's seat out though. Search around, there are guides here.

I don't recommend you taking the switch apart unless you know what you are doing.

These switches are not like any other. There is nothing inside the switch for you to clean. If you take the top off there Is two switches per one switch. There is a little ball bearing and Two tiny springs make sure you don't loose them. Then there is only one contact. So that is 4 springs and 2 ball bearings per switch.

not trying to thread jack here, but i do have a similar situation as the OP here, except my driver side seat doesn't move at all and my tilt steering wheel function no longer works. Infiniti said it was an electrical issue and not a seat motor issue for the seat. they told me further diagnosis would be needed, and at 115 an hour i passed on it for the time being. would anyone have any type of insight on my issue and how i should proceed from here in diagnosis the issue myself potentially.....
