Rims were messed up by shop

So long story short a Merchants tire shop put the claw on the inside of the rim and it defaced the front and left two dents in four spots where it was held. Talked to the manager and they agreed to pay for the damage.

Here in lies the problem. The rims are ssr d5r's which are discontinued now adays. The shop i went to get the qoute from says they are to deep into the lip to simply take out.

Does this entitle me to a new set of rims or just one rim?

Since is discontinued you can no longer order them so im SOL on finding a replacement.

1st step is NEVER go back to that shop! I would argue with the owner of the shop stating your case as you have here. He already admitted to effing up your wheel. Good luck!

Yeah, the manager was really cool though. He even admitted his guy put the claw on the wrong side and took full blame. I just dont know how to go about finding a replacement since they are discontinued so does that entitle me to a set?

I would say just have them pay for the rim that they fuked up. What more can you do? The manger is already doing good and admitting that one of his workers fuked up. But IMO that does that entitle you to a new set. I guess your just gonna have to start looking for something new. Good luck bro.

You and him are going to have to agree on something.... Personally I don't think a set of wheels is in order but that fact that they are discontinued makes this a shitty situation.

I would get another wheel repair shop to take a look at it first.

you can have that rim refinished for $200 tops (depending on area) and if they pay you for a whole new wheel then you clearly will come out on top.

Find another wheel repair shop that is qualified to fix the wheel right and 100%. Some wheel repair shops aren't worth a damn, while others do such great work I'm always amazed at the results! My shop charges me $100 per wheel to remove rash and polish to chrome like finish....hard to beat.

i could definitely help you out if you were in so cal but a good repair shop should be able to fix it.. I've worked on some mangled wheels that came out pretty clean after, dont be fooled into buying a new set

Ill definately bring it to another shop. Not worried about losing the rims just that i dont want to get paid for one rim and not be able to get another and have three good ones.

Its very rare that a proper wheel repair place cant fix a wheel ive seen some badly bent and gouged wheels go in and then look like brand new upon return. what area do you live in? And your best bet is to ask around at other wheel shops or collision repair places they usually deal with a lot of wheel refinishing as insurance companys rather pay $150 to refinish a wheel then buy a new one for $400

I've seen this repaired before. Hopefully you find sum where to repair it and get the shop to pay the costs.
