Cabin filter question

The air coming from the vent smells a little funky when the A/C isn't on and isn't really cool, even when the outside temp is. Everything is fine with the A/C on though. Could this be a cabin filter problem? Is it hard to replace myself? Thanks.

Cabin filter is super easy to replace. Only thing that sucks is that you have to take a bunch of stuff out to get to it.

I just searched on here and found a "how-to" and followed it. Took maybe 10 minutes, at the most.

I just got a filter from the auto store.
