Why no M3 / RS4 / C63 / ISF competition?

So after a month with my G, I can't help but wonder, why no performance version?
Seems like a short jump from g37 to an ISF or M3 type car. If the GTR can be built for about 80k why not a 420 hp G37 sedan? I think it would elevate the brand.

I'm thinking G56 or G37T.

I need a long-term goal to set for myself...

Perhaps the ISF's low numbers made the JDM marks back off. The better reliability should have made it a winner, but perhaps the ricer body kit and fake tips did it in. I actually dig them in certain colors. The G starts off closer than the IS350 does so it would have that going for it (better stearing feed back, etc).

0-60 on the IPL is 5 sec. 20 more hp isn't going to cut it with this group. Gorgeous car though, saw one at the stealership.

Kind of just answered your own question there.

GTR price wise is much more similar to the M3/C63/ISF.

Slightly used GTR's go for pretty cheap...

Ahh. I had a feeling you meant sedans, and not coupes.

In that case, if Nissan were to make a comparable sedan in that market, I think the things that would go through someones head is.

"Oh look, a performance sedan from Nissan!"
"Oh wait, BMW and Mercedes already have a proven and capable sedan in the market."

*buys BMW/Mercedes*

^ That's probably why Nissan isn't going to make a performance sedan.

There's an IPL version of the G37 coupe isn't there? How popular is that? I don't think I've ever seen one. Do people actually buy them? I think the same would happen with a sedan version.

Oh, and if Nissan does make a performance sedan, it will likely be part of the IPL line (given, the IPL line still hasn't died off by then)

And let's face it, we're going to keep hearing the same thing over and over from the rest of the car guys,

"Well it's just an another overpriced Nissan"

Some people just can't get over the brand name thing. It's stupid, but we all know they exist.

The brand name doesn't bother me, I cross-shopped Nissans and have a Murano for the wife. I actually would take a 370z over a G37 coupe if I could get away with 2 doors. I prefer the v35 coupe looks over the current coupe version also.

Read your post and find the problem with it.

"The brand name doesn't bother me"

Doesn't bother YOU. YOU.

How many YOUs are there?

One.

Does one person matter to Nissan?

No.

-- Of course people support it. I myself would like to see a performance sedan from Nissan. But at the end of the day, a crap load of people will just talk ****, or end up going into fan boy mode for the BMW/Merc. (Yes, this includes people who have never even owned either a BMW/Merc and just talk **** because they can)

Let's not forget those magazine guys at Caranddriver or whatever mag it is that hates anything that isn't BMW.
