Trunk swap help please.
Trunk swap help please.
What's up guys?
Yesterday I picked up a trunk with the oem spoiler on it and I tried to install it using my torx bits. I picked up just the trunk lid with the spoiler so removing the entire trunk part is not an option. I tried using a T25, which seemed to a bit loose, and then a T30 which I thought had to be it (it fit almost exactly). So yeah...I stripped the f**k out of the bolt and now it's pretty much stuck on
. Tried the bolt on the other side and it started to strip too..
I tried searching, and I found some results which suggested drilling the bolt a little bit and using a screw extractor on it. I tried that today, but it didn't seem to work for me.
Do you guys have any suggestions on how to remove this stripped screw? Should I take it to a shop (if so, what kind of shop) to remove it? Orrrrr, if any of you could help me directly, I'd be able to compensate you for your time haha.
Thanks in advance.

Whats even EASIER is use a die grinder or dremel tool and grind a groove in the head of the torx so u can get a flat head screwdriver and unscrew it.

In order to use an easy out you have to drill it first. The die grinder method is the quickest and easiest.
Thanks for the advice guys.
So, I tried using a screw extractor I got from home depot but I couldn't get it out.
I would try the die grinder method but I don't have those tools haha.
Is easy out just a normal screw extractor or is it a more specialized tool?
Also, when you guys say drill it out, what do you mean? Like just drill straight through the head and thread?
I'm almost at the point of going to a shop to get them off, I just don't know where I would take it. I think if I try to remove any of the other bolts, I'll strip them too. Lastly, do you guys know what size the screw is? I need to replace those and really don't want to get more torx ones.. Haha

Alright guys, I FINALLY FIGURED IT OUT. LOL
I tried drilling the bolt to get the screw extractor in there but the freaking heads came off on all four of them. So I just drilled them out...took forever.
I had to combine both methods: taking off the hinges and shocks, and then taking off the 4 torx screws....such a pain in the **** >:[
Thanks for the help everyone!
