Sorry to start yet another new thread. I am sick of getting pulled over.....I need to get a hidden radar detector. Does anyone have any advice? One of my big questions is there a device that shoots back a legal number rather than just scrambles the signal and upsets the cop?

I use a valentine one with a laser inteceptor setup totally hidden and works well, theres also the K40 thats been in my Porsche but its a hit or miss thing on that system.

 

You can alway mount it on the rear window.

 

Why does it need to be hidden? I've had my BEL mounted on my windshield for 5 yrs and havent received a ticket. Just make sure you buy a quality detector and you'll be fine.

Yup, best way to avoid getting speeding tickets or getting pulled over. I've been pulled over quite a bit in my car but only once for speeding.

yes, because no one except for a$$holes ever speed. and it's always easy to leave early, and things like traffic jams never ever happen. oh, and there is never ever anything called an emergency and things never come up by surprise.

Radar detectors don't scramble the radar signal. There's a company that advertises they sell scramblers, Rockford? Rockgate? Something like that. Anyways, they don't actually scramble it. Radar Roy has some old articles about it, and Guys of LIDAR might have some test data, I don't recall.

Scrambling would be bad, projecting a legal number (ignoring the technical aspects of it) would be really bad, in the sense that the FCC would go slightly nuts over an unlicensed transmitter. I think they went after the Rock-whatever company over it too, for their efforts to "scramble".

Just buy a good detector, that's all you can do for radar, and drive smart. Learn the regular trap areas, check side streets for abnormal parked cars, looking for roof bars/push grilles/C.Vic light patterns, beware of overpasses, highway median crossovers, that sort of thing. To deal with laser equipment, LI is still probably the best bet, Blinder should be second.
