Meet on Campus last night was crazy. Cruised with some fellow VQ dudes, it was fun except we got there late and had to park at the bottom. I kinda want wider wheels...
Got a good deal on these Pirelli 255 35 20 so I had them replace the Nankang 245 35 20
The slightly wider tire/taller sidewall, bulkier Pirelli sidewall and newer/less worn tread depth has introduced some rubbing....
I was planning on spacing the fronts out to be flush like the rears but I'm not sure it'll be possible now without removing the arch liners - which I'd rather keep in place to keep the headlights/bumper/engine bay clean on the inside.
Also, as you can see on the rear's the tire letterings are on opposite sides of the tire which is good. But on the Pirelli's it's like a 1/3 of the way around with 1/3 of the tire having nothing. Do you guys think I should do the lettering over the tire size (which is in that empty 1/3 of the tire) so it matches sort of thing - like symmetrical?
I'm rocking 255 35 20's in the front as well. I get a little rubbing but, only when going over large bumps or dips. Otherwise, everything's ok. I'm also rocking 285 30 20'sin the rear. Instead of rolling my rear fenders, I had some trimmed off. Looking at my coupe you can't tell and there's no rubbing, no buffing.

So yesterday I was driving and I kicked down to forth and the car went wuhh wuuuhhhhpppppp. A few moments later my water temp needle was was rising and I was like nawww mann, but the gauge was like yeah dawwgg. So I towed the car home and let it pressurize, turns out the radiator cracked right at the nissan/calsonic stamping.
Changed the spark plugs,serpentine belt,did an a alignment,and did the coolant bypass on the throtlle bodies-think the new plugs and alignment made the biggest difference.

Yeah pretty much the same story up front. I got 285 35 20 at the back and they rub on dips and some hard angles. I have pretty much all the fender (rears) rolled and pulled a little but they still catch on the rear bumper bracket/bolt probably because the 35 profile is just so big - only really running them because again I got a good deal..... The rear offsets are pretty aggressive because they're setup for a gtr, which is also why the fronts have the higher offsets.
Are you lowered as well and do you still have the wheel arch trims in place? Any pics?
Yes, I too am lowered but, on a mild drop. I have Tanabe NF210 lowering springs with stock struts and shocks ( I'll be changing the struts and shocks soon). The front has a 1 inch drop while the drop at the rear is .60 inches. I can tell the ride is a little firmer but, lovable. I too have to contend with rough and terrible roads so I kept my drop mild. My coupe handles back roads beautifully, the steering is a little heavier but, more direct. Slight in puts are needed and transitioning from one corner to the next is nice. I'm upgrading to Tanabe sway bars, power grid endlinks and, Bilstein dampers soon. I can't wait to see how it handles when it's done. Have you considered a 285 30 20 in the rear.
It's oem plus whatever the affect of the drop has had on suspension geo - I'm on Tein S-techs.
And by oem I mean I bought it with the oem 17's (so there wouldn't have been any extra chamber introduced) and I don't know when the last alignment was done. An alignment is on schedule however, after I figure out why one side is lower than the other......

Mr.Brooks, before I got tires I considered anything 275-285 35 and 285-295 30 but the 285 35 was the first to find. I feel like 275-285 30 - although most common - would be too low a sidewall and so I might try 275 35 next. These michelin sidewalls are also very fat.

you might want to look into rear adjustable camber arms before you go for the alignment. it could make a huge difference and stop you from rubbing
woo modded my rx350 projectors. cut off the second shied and replaced the polished lens with a sti-r clear lens. the cut off is so much sharper. wondering if i should play with the washers to get more color or not.
until yesterday i had not ever even opened headlights. this was pretty fun.
