Lifter Chatter?
#16
I had the issue for a while
I changed my oil this past weekend and used a different brand (but still 5W-30) oil and a new Purolator filter. It disappeared.
Thinking back, the issue started soon after the last oil change. Thing is i've used the same brand filter and brand oil since i bought the car with 10K miles on it. It now has 140K miles.
So maybe it was a bad oil filter that was allowing drainback? It's been 200 miles since the oil change and haven't heard the sound repeat. I do not know if it was the filter change, or the different brand oil that ultimately solved the issue.
What i had was basically a 1-second lifter rattle from the engine that would only appear on cold starts. Warm starts, it was pretty silent.

I have alittle chatter. I have 91,500 miles on my o5X. I have a warranty on it I dont know if chatter will be enough for warranty to cover it. I had my oil changed this week. Still has chatter. I have nissan do all my oil change and work done. I bought it from a nissan dealer. It looks and runs like new just had the lifter chatter start. I will go back and let them hear it.
