Haters on Maxima forum.. LOL
By the way, for what it's worth, if you want to see why I say the G coupe feels so refined, spend a weekend driving a Maxima.
They're fun, but the suspension design is absolute fail. Even on a nearly fully-modified street suspension, it barely could've kept up with a stock G on a twisty road course. The solid rear axle completely ruins the car.

I'll see your burger and raise you:
Smokehouse burger from a local restaurant.

Bacon, American cheese, deep-fried onions, and 8 oz. of ground beef. Heaven.
You win with cheese fries, though.

Well Duh!!! but I boosted the G35 many years ago and it's still going strong......so what did you say about reliability again..........167,000 miles and counting and 100,000 miles of them boosted
I will run this car till it dies!!

Xet: Refresh my memory on how to embed YouTube videos on Driver, and I'll post some up. Looking at things, it's close. Really close. But the fact that the Maxima is a few hundred pounds lighter gives it an edge. Even with the G having more BHP.
From a dead stop, the Maxima is quicker. From a roll, the G is overall faster because it has a better gear set for top-end acceleration.

That is no doubt fast, but Brett claimed stock for stock. Also on our 1/4 mile times list we have people running low 13's with bolt on's and no spray. Is that maxima impressive? Yes, is it faster than an equally modded G, not necessarily.
Xet, looking at everything, it's close enough to be called a driver's race.
Maxima has the advantage in weight. G has the advantage in BHP. I DO know that the 5.5 Gen 6MT Maxima is considerably faster than the 4AT is. Especially the 6MT Maximas equipped with the HLSD.
And the power is flickering on and off. We've got some gnarly storms rolling through here tonight.

Maintaining a vehicle? How un-American.
I thought the proper procedure was to beat the **** out of it for the first 50,000 miles, and then b*tch about how terribly-engineered the car is, and how by 100,000 miles, it's dead.

Agreed. The lines of the G are definitely much more appealing.

That was my 5.5 before I demodded and sold it. After having little nickel and dime issues, and owning the same car for almost five years, hitting a deer was the straw that broke the camel's back. I put it back together, sold it, and bought the G.

Nissan has ruined the 4DSC image that they gave the Maxima in the early '90's.
Making it FWD, giving it a CVT, and turning it into a land yacht were all huge mistakes.
Yes, the 7th Gen looks good. Almost Infiniti-like, even. But it's not really a Maxima anymore.
A lot of people on the .org sort of agree that the 5th gen was the last of the "sporty" Maximas.
