In TX, anything that impedes legibility of the plate is illegal. Even plate brackets that cover the state name is illegal.

At least dark shades have a purpose, tinted license plates do not. That was the whole point. Btw you misspelled license. should have worn glasses.

Had a blue one on my old car for many years never had a problem. Even when I got pulled over the cops never mentioned it. But I guess its where you live.

in houston, I was pulled over for having a smoked license cover. not worth the time. instead i got a black custom license plate thru the state. looks better and blends better, and doesn't attract attention because it isn't illegal. i say don't, but its your time and car, just stating my opinion

I had one on for a while and when my car was vandalized, I called the police and he mentioned it and said he would pull me over for it. I told him "Nah we are friends now."
A week later I caught a meter maid giving me a ticket for it and I told I would take it off right now, so I did..

Looks cool but not worth it.

I was going to ask you how a meter maid is endowed with authority to give you anything other than a parking ticket, but I did some research and found that in some locales, I see that such authority does exist. Interesting. In Atlanta, I believe all of the parking enforcement is farmed out to a funky semi-gov't semi-for profit entity and not handled by badge carrying officers. Evidently, you have true and blue police officers patrolling for parking violations which kind of sucks...

It does but she was cool and let me take off the tinted plastic and didn't give me a ticket. On that same block a month earlier, I got a ticket because I parked too long (my fault) in the same envelope, I got a precious surprise of a (no front plate) ticket as well!
