Angry filed a complaint through infiniti....

I filed a complaint through Infiniti today, might as well filed a complaint with a toddler..... they pretty much told me that the timing chain tensioner is not a their problem and its due to poor upkeep.... I do it all through the dealership.... my car only has 80k and its pretty much yard decoration. FML

Maybe i'm missing something, but i'm failing to see how infinity is responsible for a wear & tear part that went out after 80k/miles. I'm shocked they even gave you a response.

I don't know ANY warranty company that covers wear and tear items and the business I'm in we work with more than a handful.

When your tires go bald, you don't run to the manufacturer and demand replacements, even with all your service done at the dealership. I'm sure you made their day, they probably had a good laugh.

The tire analogy is true, but you would complain if your tires went bald after 1000 miles. I don't see how a properly functioning timing chain tensioner would fail after 80k, I'd be pissed too. Not a high mileage car.

^ not sure the extended warranty would cover that either...

And very true, if your tires went bald after 1000 miles chances are they'd be covered under warranty...
Should throw it up for sale.... watched as a engineless G35 sold for $3,000 within a matter of minutes the other day.. if all that needs fixed is the tensioner belt, chances are it's worth more than a crushed car.

Sorry for your luck, happens to the best of us when we're least expecting it.

The timing chain tensioner is a $70.00 part. Is there something else wrong with the motor you haven't mentioned? 80K miles is not exactely low mileage.

is it out or going out? I would think it would be covered at only 80k (especially with an extended warranty)..

take it to another dealership;
