The best way to shut up a teenage moron? Ask him whose name is on the car's title. I've found this to be 98% effective.

Then what do you call Ford's V8 5.0 putting out a measely 190hp back in the day? A muscle motor?

The original Mustang was marketed to women so there you go

It's only been in the last few years that the muscle car has come back. I wonder how the old 4.6 Ford mustang guys feel about having their V8 being matched by a new V6 Mustang driven by some 16 you girl.

Well the V8+ = Muscle Car... the fact that the car was only outputting 190HP it's called lack of knowledge from ford on how to squeeze the most out of that engine. That is the reason why the 5.0 can be so easily boosted up with bolt on mods....

The fact that it was not 300HP + does not disqualify it from the muscle category....

Dunno about Stangs being introduced as a women car... but the V6 Camaro definitely was...

Muscle cars have been around... they have not gone anywhere... 4.6L Mustang is a muscle car.... It is only on the last few years that technology has advanced and they are able to squeeze 300HP+ out of a V6 engine... Camaro introduced this.... the rest just followed.... and this was only in 2011 and even being 300HP+ V6 camaro is not a Muscle Car.... just looks like one...

Nissan has been getting over 300hp out of their na V6s for some time now. The VQ30HR was rated at 303hp or so in 2007. When the VQ37HR motor was introduced the same year, it was rated at 333hp or so.

You can call it what you want, the old 5.0 from Ford has been outclassed by the import V6s for years until they introduced their all new V6 in 2010-2011

Seems you want to qualify the term muscle car by the # of cylinders, not the rated hp. Seems silly.

The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines muscle cars as "any of a group of American-made 2-door sports coupes with powerful engines designed for high-performance driving."[2] A large V8 engine is fitted in a 2-door, rear wheel drive, family-style mid-size or full-size car designed for four or more passengers.

Silly Much...

That's the angle you want to use? A fricken' dictionary? In that case, a mid/late 70's Vette with a whapping 160hp 350 is a muscle car. My old V6 powered 1992 FWD maxima could give that thing a run at 190hp

A 1970 Vette is north of 300+Hp and your 1992 Maxima is at 160Hp.

I said LATE 70s Vette and my old DOHC VE30DE is rated 190hp stock. I ended running over 200hp after mods. The single cam VG30 was rated at 160hp.
