I'm old..ish

I have 4 sons....I'm hoping at least one of them will be into cars one day My 19yo isn't yet but I think he will come around soon. He always see's me doing something to the G....then follows with "so you getting it ready for me?"

No enthusiats in my neighborhood that I've seen. I use to hold install days at my house years back and we had a good amount of G's always parked outside...miss those days (all were 20 something too).

I love the concept of an "Install day". My problem is trying to even find the Orange County G owners that are active. I organized a meetup with about 10 people confirmed and then nobody but me showed up. Doesn't make for much of an event if you are the only person there.

When you think 9pm is late you are offically an old guy.
I don't remember feeling old at 40, maybe a little at 45, now at 48, I feel old, but only in the mornings and after 9pm.
Kerry, get tuned in Socal, your options in Denver might not be so good, let the tuner know you are taking the car to Colorado and see what they say.

id like to know whos the record oldest here lol . who knew the old timers here were literally old timers. how long do u guys think u will be active on the forum? im 30 and slowing down. cant imagine myself being active at 40+. if it wasnt for boredom at work to get me by during the day i wouldnt really be here at all. would rather be watching tv lol

I turned 48 last month and have recently rediscovered my love for cars and wrenching

for those older guys how do u still wrench without having severe back aches?. after a couple hours for me my back and legs are all fuked up usually resulting in severe leg muscle pain the following day lol. i cant imagine wrenching when im older.

A drug cocktail of Aleve and Tylenol

when i did my valve covers man that was a nightmare on my back. i almost didnt finish because of the pain lol

I've been working on cars for close to 40 years and spent a good number of those years earning a living doing so. I guess you get used to it, but the back does hurt a little sooner now. My father blew out a vertebrae taking a wheel off of a Dakota pickup when he was about 65, he laid in the garage for a couple of hours before my nephew found him and was in a wheelchair for close to a year.

Vicodin and keep the car low enough to work on the engine from your knees. Bending over is stupid.

Stay active. I just turned 40 in Jan and I'm trying to be consistent with working out...plus I still have young ones so we're always running around at the park etc. I admit though, I can't do as much in a day that I could say 5 yrs ago.

I went and a hike/jog today and man did I feel 40

Idk wat "keep car low enough to work on engine" means but working on knees is probably worst than bending over

I'm 49, I always use a foam on the ground for kneeling, specially when jacking up the car, it helps a lot and I always try to minimize bending as much as possible. When it hurts aleve and rest is the answer.

Yeah, something soft (foam is a good idea, I always just use a folded towel) to kneel on is way easier than bending over. I don't have the ability to bend without nerve pain so that's my work around lol

The G just isn't a good car for us older dudes to be working on sometimes. There is no chair or stool you can sit on and reach anything and anything in the engine compartment requires bending over.
