I'll still do consulting work. I'd just like to get away from the 9-5 40hour work week stuff.

What i do is kinda fun anyway

OK to use 87 if you aren't driving hard. I normally buy what I'm in the mood for when I buy gas. Sometimes I think it isn't TOO much more for 91 octane. Other times, I look at the $0.34/gallon difference, and buy lower grade.

The coupe required 91.

Now, if I drive into the mountains, where low grade is 85 due to the elevation, I still buy at least 87.

The scanned image above essentially matches what the owners manual says in the 04 manual. Recommended 91 in the sedan. Required in the Manual Sedan and the Coupe.

I did tried 87 for a little bit, but I notice that I got slightly better mpg when using 91.

Its not worth the gas price difference for me.

Not to hijack the thread, but for those that use 91 is this the premium or mid-grade? Around here we don't have 91 octane. We have 87, 89, & 93. Does the 91 replace the 89 or 93?

And the 03 manual is the same as posted above.

91 is considered premium fuel. But learn to use the octane numbers and not misleading labels such as "premium" or "regular". Owners manual states 91+, so running 93 will satisfy this.

93 octane tends to be found at lower altitudes. The lower you are in altitude, the higher octane you require to prevent detonation. At higher altitudes, you won't fine 93 octane at all and might see 85, 87, 89 and 91 at the pump.

Always wondered why here in OK they pretty much only have 91 and back home in Jersey it's 93
Makes sense

Sunoco here in Canada, and Niagara Falls NY, has an Ultra brand with 94 Octane, I strictly use it in my crotch rocket, but in my 03 G35 I just use the 87 octane which the advertise as having upto 10% ethanol in it as well. I'll also go to the Indian reserve in Louiston NY and get their 87 Octane regularly just because it's about 35 cents cheaper per gallon then anywhere else, which saves me hundreds of dollars in a year between the 2 vehicles I fill up there regularly. I don't really notice too much of a differene in performance, but I don't drive my G very hard anyways, its my daily driver.

I wish I could find fuel that was 0% ethanol. All we have here is 10% ethanol. Running pure gas would give a small bump in fuel economy.
