Are we watching the death of a forum?
Have you looked at how much a brake change on a gtr is? I have a turbo on my car. It's been very reliable. You just can't cut corners when your building the motor. If I want to go from my 500+ hp now to 1000 my motor could handle it, my fuel system would need a upgrade and my turbo too. If you spend the 8-14k on a g35 and want it to go fast and reliable, you can drop another 20 or so into the motor and a turbo kit and be set and happy. And still have money left over for subs, speakers, wheels, tires, camber kits, air or coils........ That's why I like the g35 platform. I like it so much I will most likely be buying another one to do the vaydor kit eventually on it. And I am married with a boy as well. It just means our projects take longer. My son likes to work on cars as well. It's a great project. He hands me every tool I need and drools at daddy's car. It will never be his, but I will have something him and I can build for him.

I couldnt have said it any better. I used to be a post ***** and share everything I knew, experienced or learned about my G...and what I didnt know I asked the experts/senior/vets like Gwilikers, SkeletonCru, Grace, Glex and they helped me find my path to build the car I wanted as well as taught me a lot. These kids on the boards nowadays take away the thrill of building a decent car...they hate prices on quality parts because E-bay has saturated the market with replicas...or mommy and daddy funded there builds and they feel the world is there. But none the less I completely agree
You have it completely backwards. The forum is dying because true enthusiasts are leaving and taking their knowledge with them. Slowly they are replaced by ignorant kids calling everyone "haters" because they dont like their neon pink ebay wheels at -10 degrees camber. Forums are all about the sharing of knowledge. If all of the knowledgeable people leave...well you are left with what you see now.
The problem with the moderators is they dont moderate enough of the stupid out. Check out the My350z forum. Almost identical platform but with much much stronger member base and five times the activity. Why? Because the senior members do not take any sh*t from noobs. Here they are coddled, told they are special, and expect to be spoon fed the info necessary to make their Gs hella-whatever.

^ that is very true, and ebay does exactly that. It creates a massive flood of garbage. I purchased a turbo kit from a forum member on the IS300 forum, he stated that the turbo he had was a gt37 garret turbo... when i got it, it was a pile of junk and I was able to identify that it was a severely used OBX turbo directly from ebay.... this was not cool.

Buy from vendors not ebay. Look I'm personally sick and tired of vossen, and xxr wheels. I'm also sick of when someone sees my car parked or my build thread..... Let's go with parked. They see my g. My favorite is when they ask "what kind of car is that???" I look at them and say same one you have. It's hard not to say it without making them look stupid. Then they want to see the inside, pop the hood, audio etc. sometimes I'm skeptical because I. Don't want people following me home after a meet and stealing the car. We do have issues with that but mainly civics. Anywho. I then have to proceed to hear their hopes and dreams. They say yea next are springs or coils. I don't want a custom interior, but I will do a. Turbo kit then they list the parts. Obx xxr vossen then they pop the hood, and all they have is a k and n oil filter haha. Just frustrating. Ya gotta play to win, you want a sick ride or a build you have to spend the money. Even a nissan gtr is getting so common most do something to set theirs apart.
Who said ANYTHING about street racing????? If YOU assume that! that's not my fault! I clearly stated I apologize for NOT clarifying it up front, but it's not cool to be almost bullied for simply asking for opinions and advice..... I just don't understand why I had to cussed and have my thread taken over by people with no intelligence..... Just read the first page of this thread and see others have the same problem......
