It is not possible to get that much NA power out of a VQ and the article clearly says FI. No idea where the NA comments are coming from.

I highly doubt Nissan is going to phase out the VR38 any time soon. Each year they just slap on a bigger turbo and retune.

More VRs wouldnt lower production costs since they are hand built by only specially trained employees (less than 20 total). To automate would be very expensive and lower quality, hurting their pride and joy GT-R. Much easier to just slap a turbo on already much cheaper mass produced VQ.
Maybe the GT-R is in for an upgrade, it has been 7 years. I remember reading something about a hybrid version late last year.
Honestly Nissan has to many versions of their current V6, VQ23, 25, 35 & 40DE, VQ25 & 35HR, VQ37VHR and the VR38DETT, they could easily drop production of the entire DE line and fit HR's in all those models, re-tool to mass produce the VR and hand build whatever their next big thing is, none of us have a clue what they'll do. The VQDE has been in production for 20 years, the end must be pretty close.
The exagerated torque numbers would lead me to believe it's a hybrid, the proposed Q50 hybrid is rated at 359hp and 403lbft

Second is price. Already a fully loaded Q50S comes in at 55k. The M3 sedan is only 62k with 431 HP / 406 TQ with a much better tranny than Q50. The only way a Q50 can compete with a M3 is to be cheaper. Infiniti will have to sell this beast for around 60k to have a chance.

^^ Like I said, the HP/TQ numbers were BS. Also the Eau Rogue is no different than the Juke-R with GTR motor acouple years ago. Just a concept car for publicity, it will never go into produciton.

I just don't think there is really a place for this. Profit won't be there because the competition will undercut it most likely. for those who want a car like this go for a GTR.

Infiniti needs to build a car that sells before attempting this... the Q50 is hardly profitable as it is.

Actually, it put out more hp than they originally claimed. But less TQ. The Juke-R was an exact GT-R drivetrain. I don't think they are going to carry over all of it. ie.. the 7sp is diff than the GT-R 6sp twin clutch auto.

They will have to dummy down the electrics quite a bit to get the price down. $75k is what I'd think it would have to be at the max

I think at the right price point this will be a great car to add to the lineup.. It would be a great answer to Lexus's ISF. Specially if they make it reliable unlike any BMW... Just my 2cents..

Even if they put the GTR engine in doesn't mean it's gonna compete with it.

0-60mph time of under 4 seconds, GT-R does it in under 3 seconds.
Top speed of 180mph, 2014 GT-R is 196mph.

Unless the company is Mazda.

I always thought it was funny that the Mx-5 and Rx-8 were among the slowest and least powerful in the lineup.... and those are the supposed "performance" cars.

They're just fake numbers for a car that doesn't exist.

If they actually built this car with a GTR drivetrain, there's no reason to believe it would be much slower. They'd probably weigh about the same. Unless it didn't get launch control, should be really close.

Yeah, its almost like their series runs backward. The fastest is the MS3, then MS6 then Rx-8. I never "got" that..

It's because of their insistence of trying to make the Rotary viable. They can't turbo it w/o beating up the emissions and ruining the reliability. They could put their turbo 4 cylinder and it would be much faster. For a halo car, it should be faster but Mazda favors handling over power in the RX series.
